Zhan tried his best against all the current odds. He really did.
He juggled between the hospital, his work, his mom and Mrs. Lan, and his wife Yang Zi, selflessly forgetting about himself for the moment. Nonetheless above it all, Zhan practically lived and breathe prioritising Yibo at all times of which Yang Zi didn't take well.
One day, Yang Zi voiced out her wishes to have a child. She wanted to bear him children, almost demanding yet again. "We've been married for almost two years, Zhan. We're not getting any younger. We have to start our own family with not just the two of us in it!"
Another argument. Tiring and repetitive.
Their bed had been cold since they got married, colder in the recent months. Zhan tried to spend nights with Yang Zi instead of Yibo's side in the hospital as per Yang Zi's request. Yet, everytime he goes home, he is already too knackered and just sleeps as soon as his body hit the bed.
Yang Zi was aware of the adversities he's been going through...but what about their union? What about the dreams they've promised each other?
Yang Zi dreamed of a family with the man she loves.
In the past, the two have talked about the children they want, the features they wish they would have, their future as a family. But in the recent days, honestly ever since Yibo went to New York and cut ties, Zhan had never mentioned his plan for the future with Yang Zi again. It has always been Yibo in his mouth, mind and heart.
At first, she believed it was only because his attention was diverted, he must have only missed his Didi since Zhan has the tendency to grow so attached on certain people, or maybe Zhan just got busy, but she still hoped Zhan did not forget his promises.
That day with Yang Zi's outburst, Zhan was put into the corner, having a deep thought of what Yang Zi needs versus what his heart whispers in the background.
His alienation...his silence, Yang Zi couldn't wait more.
"Just let the nurses take care of Yibo! You don't have to come and do everything for him! I am your wife! I need you too."
Zhan was stunned at this selfishness coming from the woman he knew was the most compassionate, until steam travelled to his head and he exploded too.
"He is Yibo, Yang Zi! From the start, even before we were together, you know how much he means to me!"
"Then leave!" Yang Zi cried and pushed him to the door, too disappointed of what Zhan and his promise of love had become. "Be with him and don't ever come back!"
