Chapter 3: Coach Introduced

"Have a good day, Coach" Freddy the janitor tells him.

"You too".

Coach walks out the double doors and into the light as it hits his black skin. He takes out his car keys, walking towards his red ford unlocking the driver's side.

He closes the door, starting up his ignition looking into his mirror,"what a fine looking chocolate man you are, haha" he talks to himself.

He drives off away from the school, whistle still around his neck,"I swear one of these days my knees going to be the death of me" itching his right knee.

An air raid siren sounds off,"what in the world?" He stops his car as the light turns red.

Coach turns on his car radio, as it talks about the infection spreading worldwide, & about Savannah being hit with it.

"This world's going to shit, & it's not taking me with it".

Coach puts his car in reverse, then drives around the traffic racing towards the Super 8 Hotel, where girlfriend Sarah is staying,"Goddamn it" he honks his horn, behind a long line of cars.

A man runs up to his window making him jump,"we're all going to die" he yells, then runs off with a group of people.

Coach shakes his head, then quickly backs up & drives on the sidewalk honking his horn,"Come on get out of the way people".

He turns the corner then quickly parks his car, exits it, then runs inside the hotel rushing past the front doors,"Is Amy still here?" But no one at the front desk.

He pushes the button for the elevator, but it takes forever then he runs up the stairs to the 10th floor. He rushes to Amy's room knocking on it,"Amy? Ammyy?"

"She left bro" a man in baggy pants tells him, walking past him, you actually just missed her. Something on the radio freaked her out".

"You don't listen to the news much, do you?" Coach asks him.

"Not unless it has to do with getting some pussy" the man smirks, then takes the elevator down.

"Kids these days" Coach walks down the stairs, hearing a bunch of sirens outside as he finally reaches the bottom and jumps as a man in a yellow shirt, hat & goofy pants runs in.

"What are you doing here?" Coach asks him.

"Elevator work?" Ellis runs & presses the button, turning to Coach,"evacs on the roof" Ellis races to the stairs.

"Why not take the elevator?" Coach asks him.

"It won't work" Ellis shrugs,"race ya" he races up the stairs, screams can be heard outside.

"I was just up these" Coach shakes his head & walks up them again, his knee hurting again.
