Rachel's POV,

It was my 3rd period of the school day, and for the first time in my life I was lost without clue in the lecture. My mind today was completely preoccupied with Ira. I could not believe what had happened last night, and the butterflies in my stomach tickled.

I kissed a mercenare.

I fluttered my feet under the desk excitedly like a little kid. I kissed Ira. Or rather, Ira kissed me! Yes, I remember it clearly. He walked up to me and held me close, then brought his lips to mine and didn't want to let go!

It was the best experience of my life, and I couldn't help but get excited when I realized what this meant.

Maybe Ira could join us like Regina? After all, they had worked together before. If we had King Mercenare's daughter with us, couldn't we have his servant, too?

Oh Rachel, this is the best idea you've ever had!!  I said mentally. And it was true, because I felt it in my heart that the two of us were meant to have a happy ending. All that's left now is to tell Maya of course, which is a bit embarrassing considering how gushy and loud she gets when I talk about boys in my life.

The bell rang and I stood up immediately to meet her and Mackenzie at our usual spot outside. Loud and chatty as always, I stood by until she stopped her conversation with Mackenzie.

"I think that would be a great idea!" My pink-headed friend said with sparkly eyes. She latched onto Mackenzie's arm, and both of the girls giggled. "I bet you'd meet so many new friends at Seashell Bay if you did local meet and greets, Mackenzie!"

"I've been thinking of it for quite some time," said Mackenzie. "It would be nice to get closer to the community and spread my music."

"Maybe, just maybe," Maya's eyes glimmered with tease, "you'll even find a boyfriend!"

She erupted in silly, childlike Maya laughter, while our idol friend's face flushed red. With a shy expression, she covered her own mouth with her arm. "Maya, cut that out," she demanded.

Since when did the topic become boyfriends...?! I thought, blushing as well with my hand over my chest. There really couldn't be a more perfect timing, huh? I both loved and hated Maya.

As if she could read my thoughts, my energetic friend turned excitedly towards me.

"What about you, Rach?" she exclaimed excitedly, the same look in her eye. She was obviously teasing, but I suddenly tensed up and a word could not leave my dry, itchy throat.

"Wh-huh-um..." I spat, fumbling my hands awkwardly. Each moment that passed made my heart jump faster and my eyes kept glancing towards Mackenzie.

Do they notice how nervous I am?!

"Rachel, don't tell me..." Mackenzie caught on. She and Maya looked at each other, but in awe and smiling.

"Does my best friend actually have a boyfriend?" questioned Maya with her grin.

It's now or never Rachel.

This wasn't exactly ideal, because I hadn't planned to do this in front of Mackenzie. However, they'd all find out eventually. All I had to do was deal with their gushing and answer some questions around suspicion towards a mercenare, right? That shouldn't be too hard.

"Yeah, yeah, I do."

The words left my mouth like a calm river, and I felt serenity fill me instantly. This is how it was supposed to be. Honesty, trust and peace in my friendships with these girls. I knew that I could trust them with my secret.
