After Black Adam captured Luz, Billy along Eda and the others regrouped at the Owl House. Billy was overcome with guilt about being unable to save Luz from Black Adam. Now Luz had become a hostage of Black Adam.
Billy: This is bad.....this is really bad!
Amity: We have to rescue Luz!
Eda: Kid, you know Black Adam better than anyone. Is he bluffing?
Billy: No. Black Adam doesn't make empty threats. If we don't give him the Tablet, he'll....he'll kill Luz.
As Billy said this, Eda and King along with Amity, Willow and Gus expressed deep concern for Luz's safety. It wasn't long before the Coven Leaders met up with them.
Darius: So what now, "Wizard's Champion".
Billy: You're going to tell me exactly what Black Adam is planning. And I'm in no mood for games.
Billy transforms himself to Shazam to show that he was not playing around. It was at this moment that Raine stepped in between them.
Raine: He never told us what his plans were. Black Adam wanted you and the Tablet of the Titan. That's all we know.
Eda: Well that's not a lot to go on. Either way, we need to rescue Luz. That much is obvious.
Shazam: But if Black Adam gets his hands on the Tablet, there's no telling what he could do!
Gus: What even is this Tablet?
Eda: I've heard stories about the Tablet of the Titan. According to legend, the Tablet of the Titan was forged from the bones of the Titan.
???: That is only half the story.
Shazam and the others turn to see Lilith.
Hooty: Lulu!
Shazam: Friend of yours?
Eda: You're a sight for sore eyes, Lily.
Lilith: During the Deadwardian Era, a tablet was formed from the bones of the Titan. This table was imbued with powerful magic straight from the Titan itself. Some say that whoever controls the Tablet controls the Boiling Isles.
As Lilith said this, it became clear that if Black Adam got his hands on the Tablet of the Titan, Black Adam would become even more powerful than he already was.
Shazam: This just got from bad to worse.
Amity: Billy?
In that moment, Shazam was faced with an impossible choice. He could either hand Black Adam the Tablet of the Titan in exchange for Luz or he could refuse. If he gave in, Black Adam would have the power of the Boiling Isles at his disposal. If he refused, Black Adam would kill Luz. Despite this, Shazam remained determined.
Shazam: My folks had a saying. "Be good, and good will follow." That's what my parents always used to tell me. But I was good before they were taken from me, I was good at the foster home, and I was good about fifteen minutes ago. I believe in fair play. I believe in taking people at their word and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Back home, I've come up against my share of pretty nasty bad guys, but I never had to act the way they did to win a fight. I always found another way. I guess I'm saying I like being a hero. A symbol. Which is why I'm not about to sit back and let Black Adam win. We're going to beat him. Together.
As Shazam said this, Eda and the others rallied around Shazam.
Darius: That's inspirational and all, but how are we supposed to take down Black Adam.
Shazam: I've got something cooked up. The Emperor is probably waiting for us.
With that, Shazam and his allies prepared for their confrontation with Black Adam. Meanwhile in Belos's castle, Black Adam throws Luz in a cage.
Luz: Let me go, you creep!
Black Adam: Silence, child!
Luz: You're gonna regret this! My friends are gonna come for me and we're gonna kick your butt!
Black Adam: Foolish girl. When you crush an ant beneath your foot, do feel remorse? No. Is this because you are evil or because you recognize yourself as a higher form of life? This is what the Wizard could not understand. If I have the powers of the gods, then I am not a god myself? Should I not be treated as such? If Batson does as he is told, then I will prove a benevolent deity.
Luz: He won't give it to you!
Black Adam: You overestimate his chances, girl. Your life is in my hands. I could crush you any time I wish. You are nothing more than an ant to be. And unlike the Wizard's fool. I do not make empty threats.
As Black Adam says this, Luz simply glares at him.
Black Adam: Your spirit is admirable if not misguided. You call me evil. Evil is a word used by the ignorant and the weak. Power is about survival. It's about unleashing your inner power. It glorifies the strength of the individual. It is conflict that improves the lot of civilization and the single being both. Conflict forces one to better oneself. It forces change, growth, adaptation, evolution, or death. These are not our laws, but the universe's. Without conflict, you have only stagnation. To dare to dream of something that has never existed and to make it a reality; to conjure up your deepest fears and darkest hopes; to pursue a vision ruthlessly and without relent; to create the artifacts, ideology and organization of the empires of your mind: this is real black magic, the source of all true power.
Luz: He'll stop you.
Black Adam: We shall see.
With that, the stage was set. The confrontation between Shazam and Black Adam would decide the fate of the Boiling Isles.
