"Another day, another slay!" Holly joked as I hung up the phone on her, she's one of my closest friends despite the distance we are from one another.
We call every now and then, she knows me in and out. It's a good pass time and catching up with her is always a joy.
I like to tell her what is on my mind, although it doesn't clear it completely, it grants me some form of clarity in specific situations.
After our call, I went outside as a way to completely clear my mind. I liked to think about memories and the darkness of the night gave me the perfect opportunity to do so without interruption.
I had always had a hard time coming to terms with the problems in my life, the silence comforted me often. I sat down on my front patio and looked off into the distance of the night sky. The atmosphere was within my touch, and I could thrive heavily in it's appeal.
As I looked into the distance, I thought my eyes were tricking me, I saw the outline of a tall looking man walking down the street. I initially assumed he was just going for a walk until it hit me, it was the middle of the night. Who goes for a walk in the middle of the night? I tried to shake the feeling, but I wasn't able to help but feel as though he was coming up to me, I froze. I don't know why or how but I went as still as a statue. Everything stopped like a moment in time. The only progressive movement was this silhouetted man who continued to get closer and closer to me.
I couldn't help but internally freak out when the man walked up to my front lawn and had not stopped, he was coming for me! I continued to stay in my frozen composure, unsure of not only my next move but also his...
He got closer and closer...
As he continued to come closer to me, I realised how familiar his face looked.
It couldn't believe it.. It couldn't be him!
It was Deklan.
My mind was a mess and nothing could but compromise my composure..
As if things couldn't get any worse, as he got close enough to me that I could feel his warmth, he took a gun out of his pocket and aimed it up to my temple.
He hadn't properly looked at me yet and I was internally begging he would see it was me. My wish came true, he looked down and into my eyes before pulling the gun away in shock.
"Tianah?" he spat out.
He looked flabbergasted
I built up the courage to try getting up to run inside but to my dismay, Deklan grabbed my arm and pulled me away from my house and walked down the road with his hand clutched onto my wrist.
"Deklan what's happening?" I cried
He tightened his grip on my wrist and without a single word he continued to drag the two of us down the dimly lit country roads.
We completely left Katanning to my surprise but Deklan continued at his extravagant pace. I was beyond confused and scared, my mind paced back and forward with different questions.
After what felt like hours but to my assumption was likely only around one hour, Deklan stopped following the road and led us into a bush on the side of the road.
He kneeled to the ground and tugged on my arm encouraging me to sit down aswell and I finally got some answers.
T: Deklan what is happening?
I asked trying to tug my hand free from him without any success.
D: Tianah, I can't believe it's actually you, when you left the school I thought I would never see you again.
T: What is this deklan? Are you kidnapping me or some shit? I'm really scared right now
I cried, I really did have no idea what was going on and I wanted answers immediately. In an odd way, being in Deklan's grasp was in some way comforting... but then I thought back to an hour ago, the gun, the forceful movements taking me away from my home and into the middle of nowhere.
T: Is this some sort of sick joke, tell me!
D: shh!
He said putting his pointer finger to my lips to insinuate his point.
D: Tianah, you are going to freak out when you hear this, but I promise you it's for the better this way... You're going to have to trust me, okay? I can't tell you, not yet! But you cannot go home, or they will get not only you but also me.
I had no idea what Deklan was on about but my past bond with him and my instincts told me I should trust him, so I did. Of course, I was cautious, but if he wanted me dead he could have done that by now.
He gave me a quick glance before looking off into the distance as if he was checking for bystanders,
D: Get some sleep, we have a long journey ahead of us.
He told me,
T: What's happening?
I asked.
D: What did I just say, Tianah? For fucks sake just trust me! Get some rest because we have a long way to go by morning... and do not even think about trying to flee.
He added before tightening his grip on my wrist even more, it was beyond restrictive, and I yet had no idea how to feel. How the hell do people get into these sorts of situations and what on earth did I do especially to be the one to experience it.
I tried to take Deklan's advice and get some rest but how was I not meant to overthink this? I am laying in dirt on the side of the road while he grips onto my wrist. What did he mean by a 'long journey'? My mind was so overconsumed that I managed to drift to sleep eventually, but nothing could prepare me for what I was going to endure.
