Chapter Fourteen

The next morning we all parted ways but Holly insisted that her and I hang out to catch up on recent events.

We went to Gloria Jeans to get ourselves some coffee and from there headed to a local park to gossip about the recent events of my life. There was a lot to catch up on and I was sure that Holly wasn't going to take it well. 

Once we got to the park, we stopped with the small talk and Holly looked really serious,

H: So, are you going to explain what happened and where you have been?? You just cut off contact with me out of nowhere!

T: I'm sorry, Holly... I didn't have a choice

H: Uh huh, cause it's not like you couldn't just pick up the phone and call me. You just took off! After that call with you when you were super sad was the last I had heard from you, what was I meant to assume had happened?!

Holly had a point, no notice on my disappearance must have had a major toll on her, and I knew no matter how delicately I broke the news to her, she was going to freak out!
T: Holly, I'm sorry. I stole weed from a gang and got put on their hit list

Holly burst out laughing.

T: I'm serious

H: I know *hahaha* but only you would be dumb enough to steal from a damn gang!

T: Yeah, well that got me put on their hit list

Holly's eyes widened, she was in a state of shock...

H: You dumbass! Don't you think it's foolish to be hanging out at a public park if that's the case?

T: Nah, I'll be okay here, they're based down South.

H: Then how the fuck is your new boytoy involved in all this? He literally lives in Perth

T: Oh, Deklan? Yeah, his Uncle owed a guy in the gang and sold Deklan over to them... Deklan was assigned to assassinate me, of course he was unaware that it was me and so in attempt to save me, he kidnapped me. 

H: Yeah nah, sounds like a load of bullshit to me!
Holly scoffed, I could tell she was getting angry but she deserved to know the truth, not only because she is my best friend, but she was also kind enough to agree to help me, as much as she did not want to. 

T: Deklan forced me to go with him down to Albany, on foot. Once we got there, we initiated step one of his plan and now we're here to get the back up we need.

H: I'm still not convinced, Tianah. I'm only helping because I care you YOUR wellbeing NOT his! I can only imagine the emotional toll this had on you... how are you holding up?

T: I'm fine, Holly! Seriously, I am totally okay.

H: You got kidnapped

T: Yeah, and?

H: Oh my goodness, get it through your thick skull that you are being manipulated!

T: I understand where you are coming from, but please hear me out!

H: There isn't anything to hear out

Holly scoffed, I did truly understand where she was coming from, but it was hard for me to digest. I must admit, Deklan and I did have a rough start, but we had so, so many good moments. I wish Holly could have seen that, but I knew she was just thinking with what was most beneficial for me in her heart. 

T: I'm sorry

H: You shouldn't be apologising, you are the victim here...

T: Deklan said he wants to meet back at Toby's tonight if you're down with that?

Holly rolled her eyes, obviously pissed at my subject change, 

H: Yeah whatever, let me just text dad and let him know I am staying at a mates house.

Holly did just that, and then we headed back to Toby's. Holly insisted we walked so we could bring this catch up to its full potential and get more gossip out of it. 

As we were walking, I decided to drop one more bombshell onto Holly.

T: Oh yeah, none of the boys know this so promise me you will not say a word. 

H: You know that no matter how much I do not like the situation, I would never betray your trust..

I took a deep breathe in before telling her...

T: Deklan and I are pretending to date, publicly, as a charade to full the gang. It's for my safety, none of the boys' know that it's a charade. Only you. 

Holly continued with her serious composure and I was worried for how she was going to respond. 

H: Boy Toy Deky Boy! Oolala

Holly lost it laughing

H: Sounds more like an excuse to me, don't you think?

I scoffed, as if Deklan would use it as an excuse. Holly made some good points that day but I didn't think that was one of them.
