Reader is in an unhappy relationship with Scourge, who mistreats them. They end up running away and taking refuge with Sonic and a love blooms between the two. Scourge manages to find the reader after their escape, because, of course, he's not just going to forget you. You decide the ending. Prefer a bit of angst. ;)

(Smiley: I ended up making this a Scourge x Reader x Sonic because I don't like to write heavy abuse and I feel like Scourge is heavily misunderstood. He might not really show respect because of his 'ego', but that's because Scourge grew up without an attentive or emotionally present father and had a lack of self-esteem or even support of small things as a child. His 'ego' is mostly forced, kind of like when someone acts like they're the best because they have to make up for their lack of esteem, one way or another.)

Summary: You run away from a failing relationship and end up meeting someone unexpected.

You sweat as you avert Scourge's gaze.

The intensity in his eyes didn't lessen as you shifted your feet in order to regain a sense of comfortability. He let out a displeased grumble as he watched you shuffle around before opening his mouth to speak.

"Where were you?" You froze.

He leaned his chin into his hand, his eyes narrowing in annoyance.

You sweat. "I..."

Silence ensued. Seconds ticked by slower than you could bear to imagine.

He let out an even more frustrated, growly sigh. He pinched the bridge of his nose.

"You were supposed to be helping Fiona on the mission." He slowly removed his hand. He glowered at you.

"Tell me why you weren't there. As ordered."

You flinched at his tone.

Damnit.

You messed up big time.

You looked down at your hands. You hated this feeling. Like you were the one at fault here.

Wasn't he supposed to be your lover? Where was the love? The only thing he ever wanted to show you was control. That he was the authority and he had complete control over you.

"So you're choosing to stay quiet."

You grimaced but stayed silent. He shifted before clasping his hands together. His grip tightened against itself as he held back a growl.

"You don't have a choice. That was an order."

There was the word again. Order. What was so special about it that it was the only thing he cared for?

You grit your teeth. "I wasn't in the right conditions to fight."

His ear twitched. You glared at your gloves as the tension grew.

He slammed a fist on the desk, making some of the materials rattle. "That's your excuse?"

You flinched before furrowing your eyebrows. "What's that supposed to mean, huh?" He growled.
