MY BEST FRIEND IS MY WHAT!!!!!

Alyssa was busy organizing the messy filing cabinet.

Seriously, Dr. Banner you really are messy when it comes to filing your documents.

She was so busy filing that she didn't know someone had entered the room. Alyssa felt a hand on her shoulder and jumped back, startled that someone had touched her. She dropped the file that she'd had in her hand. Alyssa felt like an idiot.

"I'm so sorry," she said as she tried to get the papers that had fallen all over the floor.

"You don't have to apologize to me," said the man in the most calming voice ever. His voice was so familiar, it reminded Alyssa of someone.

The man helped her with the papers. She had finally gotten up from the floor and lifted her head to meet the person who had helped her. Alyssa Montgomery froze.

The person who was standing in front of her was Bruce Banner, her childhood best friend and first crush.

"Bruce," she whispered, hoping he wouldn't hear her but he did.

"Alyssa," Bruce responded, sounding shocked to know that it was her.

He pulled Alyssa into a tight hug.

"I can't believe you are here right now," He said smiling ear to ear. "Wait what are you doing here in my, I mean um, the conjoined lab Tony and I share?"

Bruce was clearly confused. The whole situation was relieving, yet awkward.

"I um, I- I'm your new l- lab assistant." She responded, stuttering on her words. It was something she did frequently. He'd caught her off guard and now her mind could not seem to properly articulate words.

"Y- You're my lab assistant?" Bruce questioned, fumbling with his own words.

"Yes," she nodded, looking into his dark brown eyes. As soon as she looked at them, she melted at the sight. Perhaps her childhood crush had never been as simple as she believed it was. 

Bruce was completely caught off guard when Alyssa said she was his new lab assistant. Clearly, this was not one of Tony's pranks. Phew, if he could survive today without a prank, he would be happy. Extremely happy.

Bruce was about to say something to Alyssa when the door to the lab opened revealing Director Fury. 

The dark-skinned man walked into the lab and could sense the tension almost immediately. It was so thick he could cut it with a knife.

"So, Dr. Banner, I see you've met Dr. Alyssa Montgomery," He looked at Banner.

"I uh, yes s- sir" Banner nervously ran his fingers through his hair.

"What's the matter Banner?" Alyssa spoke up, concern in her voice.

"I know Dr. Montgomery a little more than you might like director." He sighed.

"Dr. Montgomery, why didn't you tell me this?" Fury looked to the doctor.

"I didn't know that it was him, sir," Alyssa said, pointing to Banner.

"Well then, how well do you two know each other?" Fury was curious.

"We are childhood best friends," Montgomery answered with a smile.

"We were best of friends before I became the Hulk," Bruce added, with a sheepish smile.

"I still think that the two of you can work together. I mean, you both know everything about each other so it would make sense," Fury hummed, leaving shortly after ironing the details out with both of them.
