POV: Beth
"These chills didn't come from the cold, they came from you".
Moments before these words came out of your mouth, we were having a good time. Rick had set up a dinner for all of us. Once everyone arrived, we started to chat and mingle. It felt normal, this was the first normal thing that we had done as a group. While the room was lit up with glowing smiles and laughter, I spotted you across the room staring back at me. It felt like hours being mesmerized by your rosy cheeks and sparkling smile. The way you gazed upon my figure made my heart melt. Words couldn't describe how beautiful you looked in the candlelight. Your hair wasn't in its normal ponytail, it was down, flowing over your shoulders. You began to make your way over to where I stood, but before you could say a word Daryl popped up out of nowhere.
"Beth, could I talk to you outside for a minute" Daryl asked in a husky almost annoyed voice. I followed him out to the porch to see what he had to say.
"I've seen you hanging around Tara and I don't think you should be" Daryl confessed, while not making eye contact.
"What do you mean by that" I ask in confusion.
"She's only been in our group for a bit now, we don't know much about her" Daryl cautioned.
I love Daryl. We have a good relationship, but I didn't like him poking into my business even if he was just trying to be protective of me.
"She's a good person Daryl" I sassed him.
"I am just saying be careful, you don't know who she really is" Daryl snapped back. We heard the door open behind us, but as things began to get heated neither one of us cared who came out.
"I can take care of myself" I growled.
"Are you sure, cuz last I checked you got yourself shot" Daryl yelled. That answer set shivers down my spine. Daryl can be mean when he's mad, but I didn't ever think he would blame me for what happened.
"I didn't need you then, and I don't need you now" I sniffled, trying not to let what he said get to me.
That's when we heard footsteps from behind us. "Hey, leave her alone".
Tara came to me and pulled me close. "You okay, what happened" She asked in a concerned tone. I pulled away from her, wiping the tears that fell. "I am fine, just a small argument" I replied.
Tara left my side to confront Daryl. "What happened to her was not her fault, don't you ever say it was" Tara growled.
Daryl didn't want to make the conflict worse than it already was, so he muttered something under his breath and stormed back into the house.
Tara came back to my side and wrapped her arms around my small waist. "What happened before wasn't your fault" she whispered, pressing her forehead against mine.
"You know, before Daryl asked you outside, I was gonna come over and tell you how beautiful I thought you looked tonight". Tara leaned in to press her lips on mine. Yes, it was risky kissing here, but we didn't care. We kissed passionately, dropping our Tongues in an out of each other's mouths.
"These chills didn't come from the cold, they came from you".
