I managed to mostly focus on school today, can't allow my grades to get low. It was now lunch. I walked out the class looking at my feet. I turned into the cafeteria and I ran into what felt like a brick wall. "Sorry, sorry I am really clumsy," I frantically apologize and then I looked up. "It's alright I should have been paying attention to where I was walking," he kind of laughed, probably a pity laugh, "I'm Declan." I sat there with my mouth open staring at him like an idiot. I blinked and shook my head,"sorry, hi I'm Emma," I flashed a quick smile. "Well don't run into anymore people. Emma," He smiled and walked away.

I blushed and replayed the sound of his voice. It was deep, but not really deep. It was the perfect pitch. I huffed in frustration. There I go again, trying to get him out of my head and failing miserably. I made my way to Delilah, who was already stuffing her face with Greek chicken I made. "Took you long enough, gosh what'd you do count every tile on the way here?" Delilah laughed with a chicken stuffed voice. I laughed with her and dug out my lunch.

Finally the day was over and I was home. I flopped on my bed and pulled the chain for my lamp on my nightstand. I rolled over and pulled my English assignment and a pencil from my bag and began homework. Or at least attempted. I looked up and thought I saw the reflection of a person at my window. I whipped around and saw nothing but a beautiful night sky. I took a deep breath and went back to homework. Then my phone rang. I picked it up and looked at it confused. "Hello?"

"Is this Emma Descartes?" asked an unfamiliar voice. "Who is asking?" I replied slightly scared. "It's Mr. Malten. Your mothers boss." My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Oh, hi Mr. Malten, uh what do you need?"

"Well, your mother is 3 hours late, and I was wondering if she was going to come into work tonight?" I looked at the clock, it was 6:30 p.m. My mom should have been at work by now, she left hours ago. "My mom left for work four hours ago," I told him. I got up and ran to her room checking if she was there, she wasn't. I ran down stairs and looked outside to see if her car was there still, it was gone. I realized I was still on the phone and that Mr. Malten had been rambling on about how he thought she would have been there and how she is never late.

"Mr. Malten, I am going to go and search for my mom, she should have been at work already and she could possibly be hurt." I became very worried and had this knot in my stomach. "I am sure she is alright, probably just having some car troubles, but when you find her tell her to call me back right away alright, goodbye now," with that he hung up. I put my coat and shoes on and grabbed the keys for my dads old truck and ran outside to the carport. I took a second to look at the truck. The only time it was ever drove was when my mom taught me to drive last year, before then no one had drove it since my dad died six years ago.

I made sure I had my wallet and started up the truck. I quickly backed up and headed down the road. I was half way to town when I saw a car smashed from rolling and a women laying in the road. "No.."
