"Emma....Emma wake up!" A voice shouted to me.

Then the smell of smoke filtered into my nose. I shot up out of bed and saw Declan standing next to my bed, leaning over me. His hands were on my shoulders and he wore an expression of fear and worry. I began coughing, choking on smoke.

"Emma come on!" Declan shouted as he helped me out of bed.

I got out of bed, but my lungs filled with smokey air. It burned inside my lungs. I stumbled out of my room with Declan and we ran down the stairs. He grabbed the door handle, but let go shaking his hand. It was to hot. He put his arm in front of his face and ran to the sliding glass doors. He broke through with all his strength, glass pieces flew everywhere. I stood there dazed for a moment, then began choking on smoke again. I saw flames engulfing the couch in the living room.

"Emma run! Hurry!" Declan frantically yelled.

Tears began filling my eyes. I turned and jump through the hole in the door. I landed and Declan grabbed my arm and tugged me towards the woods. We reached the edge, and then there was an explosion. I went to turn around, but Declan pulled me to the ground and shielded me with his body. I peeked over his arm, I saw a medium sized sharp piece of glass fly towards us. I watched as it came close and closer to Declan.

"No!" I screamed trying pushing Declan out of the way, but it was to late.

The glass was moving quickly, and I turned over onto my back. Declan stared into my eyes. I moved my hand over his back just as the shard of glass stabbed through my hand and into Declan. I felt the warmth of his blood splatter onto my face. I could hear his heart beat. I could hear my heart beating in my ears. Then the beating became louder, until everything blurred.

I opened my eyes, and realized the warmth on my face were tears. I was still in my bed, and the beating hearts were actually knocking from downstairs. I put my hand to my head and let out all the air in my lungs.

"Just a nightmare," I breathed out as I slid out of bed. I went downstairs to find out who was knocking. I yawned as I walked to the door and saw that it was Declan and opened the door.

"Did you....are you just now getting up?" He chuckled.

"Uh yeah," I giggled.

He gave an awkward cough and looked away from me. I stared at him with an eyebrow raised, "What?"

"Nothing," he said with a smirk.

I looked at myself, from my toes to my shoulders. I realized I was in short sleeping shorts and a sports bra.

"I will be right back, uh you can come in make yourself at home," I said awkwardly.

Declan came in, closing the door behind him and I disappeared into my room to put a shirt on. I put on a baggy Batman t-shirt and returned downstairs to Declan.

"Did you need something?" I ask pouring myself a cup of coffee.

"I was just going to see if you wanted to get some breakfast?"

I could feel his gaze on me. It was like I had forgotten how to speak. It was silent while I stirred the creamer and sugar into my coffee.

"Sorry, I don't mean to come on strong, I get if you don't want breakfast since our date was last night, but when you told me you live here by yourself I figured that you don't often have someone to eat breakfast with.." he paused for a moment, "Not meaning that rudely or anything!'

I smiled then turned around,"I would love breakfast."

He smiled and then looked me up and down fast,"you're not freezing? there is snow outside and you are dressed like it's spring time," he chuckled.

I shrugged,"I don't get cold easy I guess, but I will change into skinny jeans."

We pulled into the parking lot of a cute little 50's styled diner.

"Huh, this town does have quite a few diners doesn't it? I guess Delilah was right," I said as I hopped out of Declan's car. We walked inside and the door dinged, telling the workers that costumers just arrived. We then seated ourselves at a booth near a window. I took a seat across from Declan and immediately looked out the window. I stared at the snow and into the distant tree line. My thoughts swallowed me.

"So Emma, what do you like to do for fun?" Declan asked pushing a menu towards me and pulling me from the throat of my mind.

I blinked a few times and grabbed the menu,"Um read mostly and when there is grass instead of snow, I hike."

"What do you read?"

"Romance, fantasy, adventure.." before I could continue Declan spoke,"Wolf books?"

I stared at him blankly. He smirked and continued,"I just saw all the books on your table."

"Oh those, yeah I was just doing some," I swallowed hard and sighed as I finished,"research."

We ordered our food and Declan paid. I thanked him and we walked back to the car.

He drove further into town instead of towards my house. "Where are you going?" I asked curiously.

"You'll see," was all he said while trying to hide a smile.

We pulled into one of the bookstore parking lots.

"What are we doing here?" I asked.

"Well I need a new book to read, and I figured you could help me seeing how much you love books."

A smile crept onto my face, and we got out of the car and walked inside.
