"This one may be tired of war. But the white wolf has rested long enough."

"Where's the fight?"

"Where's the fight?"

"On its way."

"You will have my Kingsguard, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje and....,"

"A semi-stable hundred-year-old man."

As Bucky stepped to embrace his friend, his eyes flickered to behind Steve, and despite everything they'd promised all those years ago over Steve's shoulder, he gave Natasha an unintentional smile. She looked completely different blonde for a start with a khaki green utility jacket, but he'd recognise her anywhere. It wasn't her eyes or her figure, or the lines of her face. It was because of her smell. Even at this distance, the faintest way of her scent had settled, creating a strange sensation deep in his stomach.

"How you been, Buck?" Steve said as he embraced him.

Bucky's eyes moved around the other onlookers and then back to Steve.
"Uh, not bad, for the end of the world."

The group went in to prepare Vision, and Bucky found himself alone getting weapons with Natasha. The air felt strangely thick, the tension palpable. He barely breathed; he was listening so intently, trying not to shatter the quiet. He could hear her breath and her heart beating, its pulse increasing as the silent moments ticked by. Eventually, she was the one who drove a knife into the void, cutting the silent atmosphere.

"Not being on the run suits you. You look good."

He turned and pursed his lips before giving a tight smile. "Thanks. It's nice here, I like it. Quieter, simpler, no politics, no sides, no fighting. Or I mean, it was. And you, you look very different."

"That sounds like bad different?" she joked.

"No, no. Not bad. Just different."

"Well, I have been on the run, you know, since," she trailed off.

He nodded since he'd hurt her and broken up her team. Since he'd gone back into the ice. Natalia had been hiding and on the run from that moment till now, "Right. Natalia, I'm sorry. I hurt you. I hurt a lot of people- again."
