She woke up with a grunt as something cold and wet touched her cheek. She peeked on one eye and saw Minki sniffing her face. She turned to the other side exposing her left ear, resulting it being licked. She giggled. Her fingers automatically flew to touch her forehead.
She opened her eyes and smiled, just to frown a second later. She was smiling, and she didn't know why, she just did.
"Why do I feel giddy. I never feel excited about that wake-up-to-a-new-beginning thingy." She mumbled to herself.
Another lick at the face was all it need to stir her back from her thoughts.
"Okay Minki. I'm up, I'm up. We need to brush your teeth later, Minki. You smell like bad oysters."
She pushed Minki from her face and put him beside her. She reached out and took her phone. She yawned as she scrolled through her inbox, replying a few messages from Jihyun. She stopped to see the time before placing the phone back to the side table. 7:15am.
Sitting up, she stretched her back. Suddenly a pain jolted at her side, making her body hunched forward. She slowly straighten her back, gasping on the pain. She lifted her shirt up and inspected the birth mark on her left side of tummy.
The crescent shaped mark was there all her life, and it looked swollen. She sighed. Every time she ran through the forest where she die, the mark would swell the next morning.
'It doesn't hurt when I ran after Minki yesterday though.' She thought.
She touched the mark and winced a little. Yep, its definitely swollen.
'This is getting out of hand.' She sighed.
A little bark made her snapped her thoughts back to the present. She smiled. "Oh, does my little Minky hungry?"
She put down her shirt, covering her stomach as she walked to the kitchen.
Minki wagged his tail and trailed after Hyuna. He waited near his bowl as Hyuna reached to the cabinet to grab his food, and when his bowl was filled, he dunked his head and ate.
"Sorry, Minki, that's all I could give. You have to wait until I get home from work and go for some groceries shopping."
She poured some water onto Minki's water bowl and went back to her bedroom to get showered and dressed for work.
Her work attire was simple, a dark maroon shirt and a dark blue pair of jeans.
She pinned her name tag on top of her left side shirt. It said 'Welcome to March Rabbit.' on top of it in bold letters and then 'my name is Hyuna' under it in an italic font. The name tag was black while the fonts were maroon.
She wore her long black hair in a high ponytail, grabbed her bag and keys and prepared to head out.
Minki looked up from his bowl and ran to Hyuna when she clicked her tongue.
"Minki, please be a good boy. I'll be missing you baby." She hugged her dog and ruffled his fur before slipping into her pair of worn sneakers and headed out.
The elevator stopped at her floor and she walked in. The young mother inside the elevator smiled.
"Ohayo." She greeted. "Ohayo Yuki-chan."
The girl nodded and hid behind her mother's hips. Her mother smiled apologetically.
"She has stomachache since yesterday morning. We're going to the doctor. She doesn't like it, and act really stubborn about it." She explained.
