         CHAPTER FOUR An Unexpected Visit

Brian was face down on his mattress, wishing that Lauren still was there. Why the hell did he just do that? Lauren’s soft brown eyes, her full lips, and the pink blush that enters her cheeks when she gets embarrassed-she was the woman of his dreams and he let her leave. She had kissed him, she had fricking kissed him on the lips.

He couldn’t help but let a smirk play onto his lips as he thought back to the kiss. Her lips fit his perfectly, and he could almost smell her vanilla perfume on himself. Brian had always gone back in between wondering if she kissed roughly or gently, and now it was hard believing that he knew. He remembered her hand full of his shirt, pulling him closer and grinned wider. She was a frisky one. Now why the hell did he stop kissing her? Did he really let his morals stop him from kissing the woman of his dreams? But then again…Darren was a guy, just like him. Also Lauren just kissed him, who was not Darren. Brian would be pretty pissed if he was Darren.

A loud yell came out of Brian’s mouth and he punched his pillow a number of times. He would’ve gone for a run too, except he didn’t know this part of Chicago well and there was no gym close by. He just wanted to do something, and get away. Preferably, he would tell everyone what happened, and tell Lauren that she loved him. But no, because Brian was in fucking love with Lauren and he wasn’t going to screw up her life-even if it meant keeping her and Darren’s relationship intact.

It wasn’t long before he was asleep, not even waking up when Joe stumbled in around five o’clock in the morning drunk as could be after what looked like a rather rousing game of charades.

Brian woke up at a reasonable time and it took him a moment to get his bearings. The morning sun flashed across his face annoyingly, almost forcing him to wake up. He turned to see a half-naked Joe Walker sprawled out on the bed next to him, bewildered until he remembered that he was at a game of charades last night. He shook his head, imagining the headache Joe was going to have all day today and didn’t regret not going to the party last night. “Walker!” He shouted, ripping the bed sheet out from underneath Joe and flinging him onto the floor.

The series of slurred curse words that came from Joe were to be expected, and Brian just held out his hand to help the man up. “You reek. Go get cleaned up before we go down to look at cool things at the convention.” He said, pushing the disoriented Joe into the bathroom and shutting the door. That routine had been reversed some many times during college that it almost felt like his responsibility.

He heard the water turn on and he looked down at himself, crumpled clothes from yesterday and all. Brian groaned and pulled the clothes off. He could definitely be a clean freak sometimes. A pair of gray jeans were hanging on his hips as he looked for a t shirt. He was seeing Lo today which meant he had to look extra good. His drawer was open and he still had no shirt on when a storm of knocks came upon the door.

Groaning, he trudged over to the door and opened it carefully before seeing who it was. “Julia! What’s up?” Was all he could get out before she hit him straight in the chest.

It wasn’t anything that Brian couldn’t handle and no damage had been done, but surprise had gotten the better of him as he doubled over. Julia stared angrily at him before crossing her arms. She looked at him as if he deserved everything he got, which just confused Brian more. “What the hell?” He managed to wheeze, standing straight up again but putting his hands up for extra protection.
