What is Love?

~ Chapter 9 ~

~ Now ~

Naomi's been held up in her room for the past week since our confession at the restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin try talking to her and asking her to come out but she doesn't budge. I think it's best now that we just give her time to process things. Calum's been staying in the guest room with me for the past week seeing as we don't have to hide our relationship anymore. I think we're in a relationship anyway.

I wake up today, the same as any other day, with Calum's arm around my waist pulling me against me. I feel him kiss me on my ear and he whispers into it. ''Want to come with me to work?'' I almost forgot Calum works. It's kind of weird thinking he has a job seeing as how rich his parents are.

I shuffle around in the bed until we're face to face. I put my palm onto his cheek and he covers my hand with his. ''I'd love to go to work with you, Cal.'' He removes my hand and sits up against the headboard. ''No morning kiss for you. I'm not a fifty-year-old man named Cal.'' He rolls his eyes to the back of his head and I sit up and cuddle around him. ''I'm hungry. Let's go get dressed.'' I pry myself off of Calum and go into the bathroom to change. I close the door behind me and start to strip.

I think I let out a slight squeal when I see the bathroom door open while I'm standing half-naked in the bathroom. Thankfully, I got a pair of shorts on before this interruption but my whole top half is bare and exposed. I try to cover up as best as I can as Calum comes in and approaches me. He lifts up his right hand with my bra in it. ''You forgot to take this in here with you.'' He looks sort of embarrassed that he walked in on me.

''Thanks.'' I bluntly say as he places my bra down on the bathroom counter and walks out of the bathroom. I hear him mutter 'fuck' as he walks out just like he did that day I got into the shower.

I walk out of the bathroom after I put a bra and top on and Calum is still shirtless in his grey joggers. ''Are you going to get ready for work?'' He's standing looking out the window. He doesn't answer me and then I follow his gaze across the street. There's a moving van and what looks to be a happy family. ''Let's hope they have happier memories of that house than I do.'' It's best I try and make some form of joke out of it because if I don't, I think I'll cry.

Calum takes his eyes off of the scene across the street and looks down on me. He plants a kiss on my head and makes his way to the door. ''I'll meet your downstairs.'' He walks out the door. I stand looking out across the street for another few minutes. I keep thinking back to the day we moved in. That was the first day I met Calum.

I make my way downstairs and I'm greeted by the smell of bacon and eggs. Mrs. Calvin smiles at me when I enter the kitchen and I take my usual seat. ''Any word from Naomi?'' I quietly ask as Mrs. Calvin scoops eggs onto my plate along with some bacon. She shakes her head slowly. I don't either of us know what to say to each other about the whole situation. It's my fault. I went behind her back and didn't tell her. I have no right to be upset or angry with her.

Calum enters the kitchen and kisses me on the head and sits down beside me. Mr. Calvin is sitting in the sitting room and eyes Calum's actions. ''I'd appreciate it, if you didn't do that in front of me, Calum.'' Calum doesn't answer him or look in his direction. I heard them arguing two nights ago and it doesn't seem like they've made an attempt to make up. Calum never told me what they fought about but, it's none of my business anyway.

''What's your plans today?'' Mrs. Calvin joins us at the table and tries to keep a smile on her face as best as she can. I can tell she's not happy about any of this. ''It's take your girlfriend to work day at work so Phoenix is coming with me.'' I think I choked on my egg. I just start coughing and then a big gulp of coffee. Did he seriously just call me his girlfriend?
