Well here's chapter four, if anyone cares anymore. I know it's been ages since i've actually done anything. But here it is. If anyone wants to read.
Chapter 4:
After SchoolThe rest of Fighting 101, I tried to stay away from Sage. He looked like he would kill me if he could. So I practiced with other students, letting them win, but only when I wanted to. When class ended and I was in the locker room changing, Sage came up to me. He was still fuming mad.
“You, me, parking lot after school. I want a rematch.”
I couldn't help but saying, “Um, sorry to ruin your cool line there and all, but, it is after school.” Which, of course, only made him madder and turn a brighter red than he already was. “But whatever, sure. You can have a rematch. But you won't be too happy with those results either.”
“Sure I won't.” And with that, Sage just walked away. Whatever, I'm sure I'll be fine. Stella won't be too happy though, but she can deal with it. This has happened before; it's not too uncommon with me. I usually get into trouble at new schools. I don't really try though.
So after I had gone to my locker and gotten my things, I went to go find Stella. When I did, I told her, “So, uh... this guy wants to fight me today.”
“Ugh! Not again! Who is it now? That bully, Dug?”
“Uh no. Sage Godfrey.”
“What?!” she exclaims. “Sage Godfrey?! He's the principal's son! He's supposed to be the best fighter here! Everyone is afraid to go against him.”
“Yeah, I found that out already. I fought him in Fighting 101 and... won.”
“Yo- You WON?!! Not that I'm saying your bad or anything, but, but he's the BEST!”
“Well apparently he isn't.” As we were talking, we had come out the doors to the school and entered the parking lot. There was already a crowd of people standing there, waiting for the fight. Wow, news spreads fast in this school. In the center of the group was Sage. His golden hair reflecting the sun's light and creating what appeared to be a halo around his head. Yeah, he's such an angel, I thought.
Stella looked at me. “You don't have to do this, you know.”
“Sure I do.” I replied and walked over to Sage. The crowd parted and then closed up behind me as I walked through, sorta like how they do in the movies. When I stopped in front of Sage he sneered at me and said, “Are you ready for this?” I snorted, rolled my eyes and replied, “Cliché, much?” Which was probably a bad idea because, once again, it just made him madder.
And so, just like in Fighting 101, we began to dance around, trying to find an advantage. Dimly, I noticed that the crowd stared to chant over and over. “Fight, fight, fight!” they were saying. I was too focused to pay any attention to them, however. Then, just as he was about to make a move, Sage's name was yelled from somewhere in the crowd. Both our heads whipped around to see Camille pushing through the mob. She finally made it through and walked over to Sage.
“Sage!” I heard her exclaim angrily. “What are you doing? You know your dad said that if you fight someone again he can't keep you from getting a punishment anymore.” So Sage also has a history of getting into fights. With his temperament, though, this isn't very surprising.
“Yeah, I know,” Sage seemed to be calming down a little. His eyes weren't as fierce and his face had softened up a bit. Camille raised her eyebrows. “Alright. Alright. Let's go then,” he said and put an arm around her waist. She turned and put an arm of her own around him. People in the crowd began to realize there wasn't going to be a fight anymore and they started to melt away with disappointment clearly written on their faces.
“Sorry, Zeke. Sage has a slight anger problem.” Sage rolled his eyes and sighed in exasperation. “It gets hard to control him sometimes.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Wait, are you two... together? Like a couple?”
“Why? Jealous?” sneered Sage.
I rolled my eyes. “As if! No, I'm just... Why are you with that jerk?” I asked turning to Camille.
“Because!” retorted Camille. “Because this jerk has more to him than people see.”
“Wow. This school is just FULL of cheesy, lame, cliché’s!” I said. And as an after thought I tacked on, “No offense really. Just sayin'.”
“Yeah well we don't care about what you think.” Sage said. “You and your attitude will be taken care of soon enough anyways.”
“Sage!” shouts Camille. Then softer, turning away from me, she says, “You know we're not supposed to say anything!”
“Yes, I know!” he answered back. “But he will be taken care of soon anyway, so it doesn't matter.” The whole time I had been standing there, mouth agape, staring at the two in utter confusion.
“Wait, what are you talking about?” I demanded. “What do you mean I'll be taken care of soon? What are you talking about?” I asked again.
“Nothing.” Camille replied turning back around. She gave Sage a look that said 'don't you dare say anything else!' “Just go home, Zeke, I'll see you later.”
“Wait, where are you going? You ride the bus.”
“Not after school. Sage takes home me after school. I'll see you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see ya.” I replied glumly.
They turned around and headed off. As they were going, I hear Camille say “Look what you've done! You made him suspicious! He might ruin the whole plan now and it's all...” I lost what she said after that. But I watched them walking. Gesturing wildly like they were arguing.
Estella stepped up to me. “C'mon Zeke. Let’s go before the busses leave. I wanna go home.”
“Yeah, I want to go home too. But Stella, where is home?” I asked turning to her. “We have a new house, yeah, but is it really our home? Do we have a home?”
“Yes, Zeke, we do. Right here with each other.” Stella replies.
I sigh and look at the blacktop. “Yeah. You're right. Okay!” I said a little more enthusiastically. “Let's go back to the house!”
And so we did. But all the while I couldn't help thinking about what Sage had said. What did he mean I would be 'taken care of soon'?
Well, one way or another, I'm gonna find out.
