Chapter 6:
More Information
Today Stell and I slept in since it was Saturday. So we got up at 9:00. Since our parents were at work, we had to walk to the mall, which wasn’t so bad since it is only about a mile away from our house. When we got there we went to the food court for some breakfast. After that we just walked around- well, I was
actually dragged around by Stella.
Stella took me to some stores and forced me to wait there and help her pick some new clothes. Then she dragged me to a shoe store and, again, forced me to wait and help her find a pair she liked. After she found some, she wanted me to get a new pair. I can assure you, I did not need them. So I followed her around the store as she looked for a pair that she approved of, which also had to be approved by me, so it took quite a while.
After we were both satisfied with what we had, we headed out to look at other stores. When searching for about five minutes, we found an F.Y.E store. Before I could even take 2 steps past the door Stella shrieks and starts to run in the opposite direction. I spin around to see what she’s so happy about only to find Sage and Camille walking together. Before she can get too far, I reach out and grab Estella.
“Are you crazy? What are you doing? You can’t go over there!” I about shout the words for the anger I suddenly felt.
“I just want to talk to Camille!” Stell retorts. “What’s so wrong with that?” What was wrong? Well, what’s wrong is that we are no longer at the school. We-I- am no longer protected by the principal’s threat to Sage about not fighting. And I’m pretty sure that since he is no longer in danger of being in trouble, Sage will want to fight me. Here. And if not now, then he will sometime soon.
Not that I’m afraid I’ll lose or anything.
As I open my mouth to explain this, Stella wriggles out of my grasp and runs to Camille.
“Stella!” I yell, trying to get her to come back, which, of course, doesn’t work. The only thing it does is cause Sage and Camille to look up to see who is shouting.
I sighed, knowing that it was too late to avoid them. Grudgingly, I walk over hoping I could get Estella away from Sage and Camille before anything… drastic happens. Drastic as in Sage and I fighting again.
Drastic as in making things between us even worse and me being hated even more.
Coming up behind Stella, who was talking very animatedly with Camille, I whispered into her ear, “Stella!” She jumped and turned around with a mixed expression that was angry, surprised, annoyed, and a tad bit quizzical. “What are you doing? I told you not to come over here!” I whisper furiously at her. “You know the…” here I pause and glance at Sage and Camille quickly, “… predicament I’m in with him. Now c’mon, I think we’re done here. Let’s go home.”
“What? No!” Stella shrieks. “You two babies need to get over yourselves and handle your issues like real men! Now, I’m going to talk to Camille!” With that, she turns back around and she and Camille walk across to the F.Y.E store- the place I wish I was instead of this situation-leaving me looking stupid staring after them with my mouth hanging open.
“So, how’s it feel being betrayed by your own sister?” I roll my eyes and turn to face Sage. He had a smug look on his face and an annoying smirk played at his lips. But I could see in his eyes, and the way that he looked after the girls that he was angry at what Stella had said.
“Oh shut up Sage!” I sneered as I said his name. “She didn’t betray me. She’s just talking.” I reply exasperated.
Sage glared at me like he wished he had killed me – as if he could! “You’re lucky my girl was there to stop me the other day. Next time you’ll be dead.” He said confirming my thoughts about him wanting to fight me again, and about him wanting to kill me.
