Chapter 2:
The First Sign
The next morning I grudgingly got up to get ready for school. I took my shower and got dressed in my baggy jeans with a white undershirt and light blue polo, and my black and red Nike's. I combed my light brown, shaggy, ear-length hair and then shook it into place.
After breakfast, Stella and I walked to the end of our block to the bus stop. There were already a few people standing there. One of them was a girl with bright red hair that stood out from all our surroundings; the only color in this drab morning. She glanced over at me and Stella and gave us a kind smile. She stepped away from her friends and walked towards.
"Hi!" she says. "You must be the new kids. I'm Camille Devereau! What's your names?"
"Um, yeah, hi," I answer. "I'm Zeke Kale and this is my sister Stella."
"Oh! I love your names! So what grades are you in? How old are you?"
"Uh, well, I'm a freshman and I'm 15. And Stella-"
"Stella can talk for herself you know!" exclaims Stella, talking for the first time. "I'm in the 6th grade and I'm 12. I have a yellow belt in Taekwondo AND I'm the best in my class!" Stella stated with an air of pride.
"Oh! Wow! Taekwondo!" A strange look flashed across Camille's face, but it was gone too fast for me to identify it. Even though I couldn’t tell what it was, I got a strange feeling from it. But that can't be right, Camille's nice right? Right? Camille looked at me and asked, "Are you in Taekwondo too?”
"Yeah I am," I answer. "I have a black belt. Best in my class too."
“That's great! At least we know you'll do good in Fighting 101." Camille stated this fact as normally as if she was saying the sky is blue. I was about to ask about that but was interrupted by the bus screeching to a stop beside us.
"Oh, well, see you guys later!" Camille shouted to us and then ran back to her friends.
Everyone boarded the bus and went to sit down. Stella was skipping down the aisle to an empty seat, I was following her. Then before I could stop, a boy with dark hair and a scowl on his face stuck his foot out in the aisle. I realized too late what was happening, and tripped on Jerkface's foot. He started laughing with a bunch of his cronies, then he said, "Watch where you're going, Newbie! You don't wanna mess with me!"
"No Dug! You don't want to mess with him!" shouted Camille. "He's got a black belt in Taekwondo. His 12 year old sister knows Taekwondo too. You're such a bad fighter I bet she could beat you up!" I heard everyone on the bus chuckle and try to suppress a smile, which didn't work- even the bus driver. This caused Dug to flush red and glare at Camille.
Dug shot me a look and quietly so only his cronies and I could hear, he said, "We're not done here Newbie! I'll get you next time!"
I knew I would be okay in a fight against just Dug, but, something in Dug's and crew's eyes told me that it wouldn't be just me and Dug. Figures he wouldn't fight fair. That look sent shivers down my spine and I realized I was actually afraid.
Great.
First day and I already got an enemy. Real nice. (Again please notice the sarcasm there)
As I went to sit down next to Stella, I noticed that some of the kids on the bus were just sitting in there seats with a blank look on their face. Their eyes were glazed over and they just stared at the seat before them.
I don't know why, but, a shiver went down my spine- again. And it wasn't from the cold- because it wasn't cold.
I had a strange feeling that something was going on at this school. And it wasn't good.
Well, chapter two. What do you think? I think I need to go through my whole story and just edit it. The grammar is horrible and the way its worded. ugh.
Oh great Elaine, your criticizing your own story. How do you think that looks to the readers? ... and now im talking to myself.
Please comment! Vote. Maybe. Hope you liked it.
Next chapter will be a bit longer. Just a bit. Apparently, when I started writing this I had a problem with length...
