Mikayla POV
When I finally got to California, exhausted wasn't a strong enough word for how I felt. Louis and I had texted the entire flight. Thank God for iMessage. When I got off of my plane, I was suprised to see that the new company that I worked for had sent a car for me. I got in, and it took me to my new flat. To be honest, I wasn't hating it. I mean, sure, Louis wasn't here. But, it was perfect for someone like me, and it was already furnished. I didn't bother unpacking and threw my suitcases on the floor. That 10-hour flight had floored me. It was 8 in the morning when I left the UK, and it was 10 in the morning in California right now. Talk about jet-lagged. After I kicked off my shoes and trousers, I laid down on my bed facing the ceiling. Sleep was getting the best of me when my phone rang.
"Hello", I said, groggily.
"Hey, babe. Did you make it there safely?"
I smiled at the sound of Louis's voice.
"Yes. In fact, I just walked into my new place. I like it".
"I'm glad to hear that. Have you unpacked yet?"
"No", I told him, yawning, "that's the last thing on my mind right now".
"What's the first?"
"Sleeping as soon as I get off the phone with you".
He laughed.
"Well, I won't keep you from that. I'll call you later, babe. Go to sleep".
"I love you".
I assumed he muttered the same back, but my eyes closed, and I drifted off to sleep.
Louis POV
"Is she okay?"
"She's fine, Zayn. She will probably be unconscious for a while, so I'll give it a while before I call back".
"How you holding up, Lou?"
"I'm fine", I sniffled, "I realized that she has to go, and there's nothing I can do about it".
"I'm glad", Liam said, patting me on the back, "what do you want to do tonight?"
Shaking my head, I got up and grabbed a cookie from the kitchen. I nibbled on it as the boys continued looking at me.
"Nothing", I finally said.
Niall groaned, and Harry rolled his eyes.
"Stop being a girl", a voice said.
"Excuse me?"
Ana got up and scowled at me.
"We're not doing this, you insufferable twat".
"Doing what?", I asked, already uninterested in this conversation.
"We're not going to sit around while you mope over Mikayla being gone. She's my best friend, and you don't see me doing that".
"Who said I was moping?"
"Do you plan on going out anytime soon?"
I looked at the ground, knowing she knew the answer.
"I didn't think so. Mikayla is going to have fun in California, whether you like it or not. Get over it. Now, get up because we're going out".
Why was she so insistent on me going out? She didn't even like me.
