Chapter Seventeen: Reunions

NOVA'S P.O.V

  It's been two years since Jesse has gotten to stay with me and my dad. I mean yeah, I got to visit him and he got to visit me. He never really got to stay with because me because of Annie and Glen's rules.

Today,Jesse was coming here for a job. I also worked under my dad,but that means I also worked under Drew,so technically she's my boss.

I heard Drew messing with Jesse as me and my dad walked over from the top port to get some pizza that she ordered.
"What'd you say your name was?" Drew asked. Jesse gave Drew a weird look. "Um..Jesse" Jesse responded.
"So your names not Willy?" Drew asked looking at Jesse weirdly.
"Willys a whale.." Jesse said giving a confused smile.

Me and my dad finally decided to get some pizza. Dad reached his arm out and got two slices.
"Randolph,Novie. Tell her who I am" Jesse said looking at me and dad.
"I've never seen this kid before in my life" Dad said jokingly as he took a bite of the pizza.
"Yup,never seen him" I said,playing along with the joke as I bit into my pizza slice.

"You didn't tell me he'd be so uh..young" Drew said eating her pizza.
"Drew. Me and Jess are the same age" I said looking weirdly at the woman.
"Oh? So now you know who I am?" Jesse asked grinning. I shrugged in response,but I was internally smiling.

Drew started walking away,seemingly uninterested in Jesse.
"Wait a minute!" Jesse said grabbing his bag. "Listen I'll do anything. I'm just here to learn. I'll do whatever you tell me.." Jesse continued.
Dad was chuckling as he looked back at Drew.
"Oh we're gonna get along just fine then" Drew said. Drew took another look at Jesse and continued her little joke.

"What'd you say your name was?" Drew asked again.

Jesse had a small smile on his face. "Jesse" He answered again.

Drew put Jesses stuff away for him and we left the docks.

  Drew and my Dad were explaining how the population of orcas has decreased in the past two years. We've tried figuring out why it's been happening,but we don't know.

  I brought out the tags so we could show Jesse on how we could figure out what's happening.
"Basically we're gonna tag each pod of orcas with these" I said holding one up.
"We're doing this so we'll be able to track our whales anywhere on the planet 24 hours a day" Dad said.
"Maybe we could figure out what's happening to them this way" I said.

  "What do you guys think it is?" Jesse asked.
"Could be environmental factors,a virus,. Maybe even old age" Drew said. "For all we know it could be something perfectly natural" Drew continued.

  "That's what we're gonna find out" Dad said.
