The next morning i woke up in a room unfamiliar to me. I say that, it was actually very familiar, just not for me to wake up in. When i sat up thats when it hit me. The smell, the pristine  cleanliness, i was in Nicks room. My head started pounding but i assume it was from all the beer last night. Not a good idea.

I reached over to the bedside table and grabbed my phone that was laid neatly next to a glass of water and pain relief pills. I had thousands of messages, some from Jack, a few from Imogen, several from Harry and a couple missed calls and texts from mum. I read the texts my mum sent first.

Hey honey, i know this has been hard on you but please come home, your brother and I are getting worried and we don't need this on top of whats going on with your dad xx

I went to the texts from Harry

oi come home

mums worried about you

dont be selfish

get home

now

I ignored them and then looked at the ones from Imogen

Hey girl i heard what happened, are you ok?

Where are you?

Do you want to crash at mine?

Please be safe wherever you are xx

The Jacks

Hey babe whats going on

Why arent you answering your calls or texts

I answered Jack and imogen saying i was fine and just needed to not be at home. Then messaged mum and said i was sorry for leaving but i was safe at a friends house. I ignored Harry's assuming mum would've told him what i told her.

I took the pills and downed the water before getting up. I realised i was wearing yesterdays clothes and sighed, uncomfortably.

I went downstairs to see Nick sitting at the table with a cup of coffee in his hand, and another one next to him

"Oh i was just about to come see if you were awake yet, here i made you coffee" He gestured to the seat next to him. I smiled faintly and sat down, taking the the mug in my hands.

"So, are you feeling any better?" He asked. I nodded slightly. It was true. I was sort of feeling better. I don't know why but i always enjoyed being in Nicks company. He was just the sort of person i feel so safe with, so comfortable.

" I didn't tell anyone you were here, incase they thought something else of it. I assume you've assured your mum by now" He said

"Thank you, yeah i told her i was at a friends house." I paused for a minute

"So what happened last night?" I asked

"Well, i found you outside the petrol station, downing three cans of beer. I got you in my car and then as you were telling me something about your dad, you blacked out" He said. Right. My dad

"Did you want to tell me what's going on? You don't have to, obviously"

"Uh well, he- he got in a car accident. He's in hospital. Thats where i was before i went to get a drink. I don't know if he's gonna be ok" i sighed, looking into my coffee, as if trying to see the future.

"Shit, im so sorry, no wonder you needed to let off some steam."

I just nodded and looked at him

"Thank you, for everything, you really didn't have to" I smiled a genuine smile as i looked into his eyes. They were always so kind and inviting, gentle and warm. Shit, no i can't think about him like that. I realised we were making eye contact for too long and looked away. He coughed to regain composure.
