(February 1956)

Don't cha know he's alright

He's alright, he's alright

WhoOaA yeEaAh, oh yeah!" Paul sang for his mother happily.

"That was great Paulie! You're lyric changes were slightly confusing, but still brilliant! It's okay with me y'know, but don't tell your father." His mother said quickly while giving him a round of applause.

"What do you mean lyric, changes? What are you on about, 'don't tell your father'? What do you mean" Paul said confused. He hadn't realised he changed the lyrics.

"Nothing, honey," his mum said "do you want to go into town with me and your brother, I've just called a cab?" Mary asked

"Is it alright if I stay here, I wanna practice that last bit again?"

"Of course Paulie."

Five minutes later the cab pulled up outside.

"Come on Mikey, let's go!" Mary shouted up the stairs

"COMING MA!" Mike shouted while running down the stairs.

Mike and Mary left and Paul got back to practicing immediately while his father read his paper. This went on for about thirty minutes before it happened. The call. Paul was going to get a lot of bad phone calls in his lifetime, this was probably the worst, although in about twenty six years time there would be some competition, but more about that later, for now Paul has to answer the phone.

Paul put down his guitar walked over to the phone.

"Hello." Said Paul

"Hello, this this is Linda, from the Royal Liverpool Hospital, I'm calling in regards to Michael and Mary McCartney, who have recently been checked in. Am I talking to Mr. James McCartney?" The woman said, rather fast.

"Yes, James Paul McCartney... Junior. Is everything okay? What's wrong with mum and Mike?" Paul said frantically.

"Sorry honey, can I please talk to James senior?" She said.

"Yes, yes, sorry" Paul covered the phone and shouted to his father in the next room. "DAD, THE HOSPITAL ARE CALLING, SOMETHING ABOUT MIKE AND MUM!" Jim came rushing through and took the phone.

"Hello."

"Yes, that's me." he said and then he was quiet for a few minutes as he was listening to the woman on the phone.

"Well are they alright?!" Jim shouted "You're joking right, this is some kind of sick joke, right." He frantically.

"Well can we come to see them?"

"Thank you." He said putting down the phone fast.

"Paul, get in the car, now." Jim said to his son seriously

"What's wrong dad?" Paul questioned with a quiver of worry in his voice.

"I'll explain in the car now move!" He shouted

Jim ran into the other room to grab the car keys and a few other things before quickly writing a note, asking the neighbours to watch the house as he didn't know how long he'd be away as Paul rushed to the car. Jim came running out the house and put the note through his neighbour's letterbox, not bothering to lock the door.

Jim then ran over to the car and got in slamming the door and starting the engine quickly. Once they had got to the main road Jim started trying to speak, but he couldn't quite get the words out.

"Paulie... I'm g-g-g-going to t-tell you what h-happened, b-but you can't g-get upset yet a-alright?" He managed to stutter out. Paul nodded and took a deep breath in.

"Your mother, a-and Mikey, have got into a bad car crash, they're both unconscious in hospital..." Jim said, almost crying.

(Authors note - so what do you think?

This one is short again but I think that might be better, what's your opinions?

Should I keep writing or is it crap so far?

Please leave feedback, thank you.
