The best time to play football is always at night.
Some may argue against it; saying it's hard to see the ball, where you're running off to or how it's too dangerous if there's barely anyone there.
Yeah, maybe that could be true.
The more reason why Jungkook likes to play at night. It's cooler without the sun, so he's not overwhelming his body with sweat. Less crowded with people practicing. And the stadium lights here at the school is on, giving it this vibe as though it's a tournament starting soon.
It's an amazing feeling.
That's why Jungkook comes here every Wednesday to play.
Either alone or with whichever player that wants to join him.
Right now, he's alone; kicking the ball around in the net. Practice ended a while ago, but Jungkook only left to get something to eat and came back to the field. At the moment he's practicing his shooting, since today in practice they were just doing cardio, and so far, he's slacking just a tad bit.
He can still shoot, but obviously it's not the same when someone tries to block the goal and just having the net open. Jungkook feeds off the pressure to do well, so maybe that's why he's not doing his best or working as hard as he'd like to.
Doesn't matter that much, at least he's practicing his skills for when they start to practice with the ball, so that's okay.
"Damn, you are very lonely."
The voice caught him off guard just as he launches a kick on the ball, doing a horrible shot to the edge of the post before it bounces back to him. A low grunt forces out of Jungkook's lips, but he still remains relaxed as he turns around to see a familiar ravenette with a small smile on his lips - standing there watching him.
Taehyung.
It was hard not to have his heart flutter to the sight of him. Of course it did, but he tries to control it by mustering just barely a small smile back.
He always knows when to appear at the perfect timing.
"You know you can't just startle me while I'm literally about to shoot."
"Sorry, couldn't help myself," Taehyung giggles back, approaching him a little more with hands in the pocket of his joggers, "Some habits die hard huh? Practicing at night."
Jungkook scoffs, jogging after the ball and easily getting it back to him, "You're telling me. Just came out of practice?"
"Yeah, you know, coach just being his charming usual self for pre-season," Taehyung sighs sarcastically, being slightly startled when Jungkook passes him the ball, "Oh, you know I can't play."
"Just a kick back to me," Jungkook tries to motivate him, twinkling a smile, "Remember how I tried to teach you?"
"And I remember really hating it," Taehyung jokes back, giving off a very horrible and lame attempt in kicking it back, "See! Worst player ever."
That's the thing with Taehyung, when he doesn't like something, he doesn't even try to get better at it or put the effort to try. Numerous of times Jungkook tried teaching Taehyung how to play football, or be engaged in it because he loves to play and wanted to share that with his partner, but Taehyung absolutely rejected it after trying it once.
He hates not being good at something and having failure after failure within the process.
With hockey, he somehow became a natural pro without so much practicing. He has been skating since he was a kid, and it's as though he connects with the ice. He knows how to move his way around it smoothly, like walking.
