One Month Later:

"I don't think I'll be able to finish this history report for Mr. Ito tomorrow.." I said to Yuzuha, whining as I swung my bag over my shoulder. "I don't know how I freaking wasted the whole weekend away!"

The soft sun of October kept on appearing and then disappearing behind the thick gray clouds above us as we were walking. Having just gotten out of school and now heading to our houses.

Yuzuha chuckled next to me, her now long bangs moving back and forth on each side of her face with every step she took. "You want me to help you with it?"

I jumped and turned at her. "Yes. Please. Thank you!" I exclaimed as she laughed one more time. "I need all the help I can get." I said.

Yuzuha nodded. "Okay, then, let's head back to my house."

I furrowed my brows at her. "You sure?!"

Because for the past month, before school starting, I never got invited back to her house. And I never asked why and thought maybe I'd sound rude and she'll think that I didn't want her to keep coming over instead of us switching, one time here and one time there. So I kept quiet, but I certainly found it odd.

"Mhm, no one's home. Taiju and Hakkai are both away for a few days. You can spend the night and I'll help you with whatever you got."

Kicking a pebble off the sidewalk, I tugged at my bag sharply. My body tensing at the mention of his name. Ever since that night in front of their house, I haven't seen him again. And now that I think about it, I think he was the reason Yuzuha never invited me over again. And now that he was gone, it was okay again for me to come. I lifted my chin up, trying to seem as cool and normal as much as I could. "Why? Where are they?" I said.

Yuzuha's face wrinkled as she squinted, not sure if it was at something in the distance or at something in the back of her head. "Hakkai is staying with Mitsuya, you remember him, right?" I nodded. She continued. "Yea, and Taiju..." She paused, wrapping her arms around her body for some reason. "He's busy with whatever shit he had himself involved with."

I frowned at her once again. She didn't turn to me as her face started growing anxious and darker. "Hey..."My fingers lightly grazed her dark gray sweater. "You okay?"

"Hm! Yeah. Come on we're here." She then started fastening her steps as we reached their street. I wanted to ask her more about what shit did Taiju get himself into, but she was far ahead of me now and asking about it again would only seem weird. So I decided on dropping the matter. But my mind didn't seem willing to. Because it didn't drop it, instead, it kept it hanging in the heavy rack of my brain, just waiting to be brought up again at the right time. Like so many questions left unanswered in my head. About him.

Ever since he got back, ever since those few awful and awkward moments happened between us, I couldn't get him out of my head. And I'm sure the reason why I'd spent most of my nights of the past month just thinking about him, was because I was only curious about him. Like the way you get curious about your new next door neighbor or a video game you saw one time in a shop and excitements overfilled you. You just couldn't help but keep wandering again and again to that shop, glancing at it, thinking about it when you get home, just curious about how do you play it, how it starts, how it ends... just curiosity.

Inside their house, the air felt cool and earthy, then I noticed the backyard door was opened.

"Is it safe to leave it open like this?" I nodded with my chin towards the door as we walked into the kitchen. Yuzuha filled up a glass of water, then she went to close it shut.

"No, it's broken. So whenever a strong wind happens it gets opened on it's own." She said.

"That's not safe.." I said as I sat on the round kitchen table.
