"Please stop!" I cried, a mix of anger and dismay was settling in my core, making my falling tears contradict the rage in my voice. "It hurts me! I can't fucking move it this way!" I yelled at them. But they didn't listen, and only cut my sling off and yanked my arm further more behind. Tying my hands with a zip tie behind my back on the cold chair they shoved me into.

I looked up, the dark eyes of Kokonoi alongside Inui were staring maliciously at me. And my whole body shook in a dire shiver, from fear, from anger, from the cold of this empty church that was creeping under the fabric of my sweater. Because it wasn't enough for them to cut my sling off, but they had to take my coat off as well.

When Taiju had left, and from the second Kokonoi pressed his knife against my throat, back in our street, I knew exactly what they were up to. I didn't need to guess for long, from the look in their eyes, I knew it was some kind of a revenge for what happened that day. And I thought they wanted to only hurt me. But when they dragged me here, to this cold and empty church, I knew instantly it had to do with Taiju, too. It didn't even matter if they belonged to his gang and he was their leader, from the way they weren't dressed in their gang uniform, I got all the answers I needed.

I looked up again, my eyes and cheeks still soaked with tears. "I can't wait to see what he'll do to you this time." I spat, finding it in me to smirk through my tears.

Koko laughed, a dry and ghastly sound, then came pacing up the steps of the altar, where they tied me into the chair. And in one quick motion, the shiny metal of the knife was flipped open in his hand and pressed flat over my cheek, so hard, its pointy end poked my skin.

"Go on! Hurt me!" I muttered.

But he only smirked at me, spreading a chill through my nerves. "Oh, I'm not hurting you, not until the big show starts."

"What fucking show?" I moved my head away from the cold knife but he only moved it further on me.

"You'll see."

"Don't spoil the surprise now." Inui spoke from where he was sitting at the front pew of the church. Despite how venomous and excited Koko looked, Inui looked uninterested. Crossing his knees and resting one of his arms over the back of the pew.

"No one likes their Christmas gift spoiled for them." He said as he inspected his nails.

"Is this some kind of a retaliation you both are doing? To get Taiju?" I said to him, Koko's knife was still over my face. Then he moved it away, and instead, his hand came and gripped me forcefully.

"Close, smart girl." The sly smirk was still over his features when he said. "He seemed to fuck up a lot lately. Starting with what he did to me that day, for a bitch like you." His fingers pressed harder over my jaw bones, then he titled my head sideways.

"I don't fucking see it, Inui." He chuckled then moved my head back to face him. "What's so special about her?"

"That's not the point here." Inui said, his tone and face still unbothered.

"You're right." Then he let go of my face with a forceful shove backward and descended the steps to walk toward Inui, the knife dancing between his fingers. "The payback is what matters."

"What the fuck are you talking about? Where did your loyalty for him go? Isn't he your leader!" I said as I began panicking once again, but not for myself.

"Taiju has nothing to do with me!" I lied, "whatever he did to you, he had his reasons to deal with two fuck ups like you, not because of me and certainly not for me!"

This time they both scoffed. Then Inui said. "How do you think we got to you tonight? We fucking followed him, of course. And there he was, crying like a little bitch into you." They both started laughing.
