Chapter 5

At lunch break, me and Yuzuha took our lunches out and sat on one of the round benches in the school yard. Now that the sky had finally cleared and the sun was out again, the weather started warming up and feeling fresh. So I took off her sweater and wrapped it around my waist.

"You think he'll be there at the party with them?" She asked, her mouth chewing on her grilled cheese sandwich.

"Who?"

She glared at me. "Takemichi, of course, who else!" She said this with her tone more hushed. As if there was someone spying on us behind the side bushes of the yard.

I shrugged, dropping my juice box. "You know he's with Hina, right?"

Now Yuzuha shrugged. "It's not serious yet, plus, their relationship goes on and off everyday."

Hina, or Hinata, is one of our classmates and a part of our girls friend group. And she happens to be the girlfriend of the boy Yuzuha has a maddening crush on, Takemichi. Who happens to be the newest member of Toman gang, her brother Hakkai's gang.

"I think you're trying to break one of the rules in the girls' code book." I said.

"What freaking code?" She'd finished her sandwich and now she was sucking the life out of her juice box, biting on the straw between her teeth.

"The code where it's forbidden for you to approach, flirt, hookup or even talk to one of your friend's exes or boyfriends." I said and leaned in to take the poor juice box out of her hand. She glared at me again, then huffed and pulled out her phone to check it. I averted my gaze away and rested my chin on my palm as I felt my mind wandering again. Just like it kept wandering all through this morning's classes, back to what happened earlier at their house.

I wanted to believe it was an innocent accident, or maybe he was doing what he did on purpose. To try to annoy me or something and I took it the wrong way. But yet, it was obvious what he was doing! As clear as the sun in the sky.
He really wanted... to touch me!

The bell rang all of a sudden and my shoulders jolted, snapping me out of my thoughts. Yuzuha's gaze lifted up at me. "What time do you want me to come get you?" She asked then her gaze lowered back at her phone, her fingers tapping to text something.

I slid out of the bench. "What?"

Yuzuha looked up at me again. "What do you mean 'what'? To go to the party! Mitsuya's birthday party!" She waited for me to comprehend what she was saying and I knotted my brows at her.

She sighed. "Gee, Emi, I've been talking all morning about this, where has your mind been?" She stood up as well.

With your big brother, I wanted to say.

"Anyway, Mitsuya had invited Hakkai, and me being his much loved and popular old sister, got invited as well." She flapped her hair back.

"Yes, but what does it have to do with me? I don't even know Mitsuya that well!" I said as we started walking back towards the school and entered its hallway.

"You, are my best friend, and I'll need you there with me. And he won't mind. Don't worry!" She said.

"I don't know, Yuzuha, I don't even know what to wear to these sort of parties!" And it's true! I'm not big on parties or overcrowded places, and I will feel just awkward and anxious the whole time.

"I hope I see Takemichi tonight." She murmured dreamily, almost like talking to herself, completely ignoring what I just said.

Sighing heavily to myself, I walked faster and headed towards my locker to take my books out, then started making my way to my chemistry class.
