family backstory ; stella was born to tara summers and andrew summers in charlotte, north carolina. she grew up as a may baby with her twin brother, finneas. as the girl grew up, her life was pretty normal. once she turned 6, her parents filed for a divorce from each other, and her mother tara won the custody battle. stella and finneas ended up staying with tara, who had won the custody battle. once tara could get a stable enough job, she was able to rent out a three bedroom apartment for the three of them, leading all through stella's school life. although it could get difficult at times, the three of them learned to deal with the situation they were put into. finneas fell into sports, being the star quarterback on their high schools football team, while stella fell into music, eventually picking up the drums. the twins remained closer than ever, figuring out life together.
