Chapter 5 : Something Bad

Simon went to the forest with the intention to kill the wolf leader today. Everyone in his party was prepared to fight the entire main pack. They found the main pack not long after they entered the forest. A big fight ensued. Just like the last time there were two teams. Sandy and Katie were shooting wolves of the pack and Kyle was protecting them. They were mainly dealing with the smaller wolves. Simon and Ken were going towards the wolf leader killing any other wolves on their way. The wolves couldn't focus either one particularly, if they focused more on Simon and Ken then Katie's team would advance and when the wolves would try to finish Katie's team then Simon and Ken would backtrack. After the "Armadillo monster " incident Simon has become much more responsible, following Echo's advice. They already planned to take down all the wolves along with the leader from the beginning so the wolves couldn't do much.

After some more back and forth the wolf leader howled and the wolves changed their position. Everyone noticed. Now the smaller wolves were not actively attacking Katie's team but rather keeping them in one place. Only a handful of the bigger wolves stayed near the leader to protect it. The Sp floating around Simon's hand glowed and giant rocks appeared floating around him from the surroundings. He threw those rocks at the wolves, some dodged and some were killed. Behind a few of the wolves that dodged, Ken appeared and slashed them. He then sliced a portal open in the air and went inside it. He appeared behind a different group of those bigger wolves who were in the air and slashed them. They easily wore down the number of those bigger wolves following this strategy. But Simon felt something was off. Why was the leader watching as they murdered the other wolves. He thought " Sure it's a monster but don't wolves try to at least preserve its pack".

But he didn't think much about that. He then exchanged looks with Ken. He was ready to go. Simon looked behind at Katie's team, they were holding out on their own well. He and Ken attacked. His bad habits from sparring with Echo were still there, so he went in pretty close to the wolf leader. Ken appeared behind the wolf leader and started attacking it but it dodged, Simon attacked it by shooting it with spikes made of rocks, it dodged again. They continued to attack it and it kept dodging. Ken started becoming frustrated. Simon knew something was wrong but he couldn't tell what it was. Then he noticed that they had gone too far away from Katie's group. The wolf leader howled, louder than usual. Simon understood his blunder, the wolf was now calling for the other separate hunting packs for back up. He called Ken and went back towards Katie's group. This time the leader was also chasing them.

When they reached Katie's group, they saw that they were the same as before. The wolves were crowding around them and they were steadily killing them. Simon was surprised, he thought that the backups would probably have reached Katie's team faster than himself and Ken. He looked back at the leader that was chasing them. It also looked confused as well. Then Simon attacked the leader again and Ken followed along. The leader was stalling now that they wouldn't go too far away from Katie's team. Actually the crowd around Katie's had become much smaller now. While they were trying to attack the leader , they heard some commotions from the nearby forest and some noises too. So both Simon and the leader thought that those wolves probably had engaged with something else. Simon thought as he kept shooting rocks at

the wolf leader " What could exactly be messing with the wolf packs ? "

Some more time passed as the leader kept stalling, Katie's group now also joined fighting the wolf leader. The leader looked furious now and it actually looked like it had enough. Then some grass rustled and some wolves appeared though they looked beat up. One of them had an ice spike stuck on its body. They fell down after becoming unconscious. The wolf felt that a powerful presence was approaching them. Simon could already tell that it was Echo from the ice all over the wolves bodies. Echo appeared looking as if he was lost. His arms were frozen with spikes made of ice stuck all around it. When he saw Simon his face brightened up. Katie was expecting a hi or maybe some other form of greetings, but no Echo just moved faster than her eyes and punched Simon. Fortunately he put up a wall of earth to protect himself. Then Echo, without even noticing the wolf leader's aggressive state, just nonchalantly asked him " Hey lets spar ". she hated it when he said spar. Because when he said spar specifically he meant he was not gonna hold back and just beat the shit out of Simon. The wolf was almost shivering in fear of Echo's presence. It looked like it was trying to look not intimidated.
