Our all day, glam squad session with Kira, Karishma and I really paid off, so much that Karishma's boyfriend Khenan, went from chilled guy to clingy in seconds, when we made an appearance in living room.
“Oh hell naw, mi a guh wid yuh” were the first words Khenan uttered, once he spotted Karishma emerging from her room, all dressed up in her short, bandage dress. Being Jamaican, he tended to slip into Patois, when he was joking, excited or agitated and right now, I couldn't tell which was which.
Khenan went on to take a good look at the rest of us and whistled, shaking head. “I don’t know how I’m going to chaperone y’alls asses, without getting into a fight.” “There will be no fighting. You’re not going . It’s a girls night out” Karishma wagged her finger at her boyfriend. “Come on babe” he coaxed in that deep voice, his accent deepened. It reminded me so much of Hideo, when he was flirting with me. It seemed my friend wasn't immune to his charms, because she literally melted but she still held her ground. “Nah uh, you had boys night the other day. It’s my turn” she reminded him.

Karishma
Karishma and Khenan, Double K, as I liked to refer to them, rarely did things apart from each other. They were literary joined at the hip, they were the type of couple who even cooked together, showered together, tried out new things together, no matter how boring the other one might have thought it was. Of course, they had other things going on outside of each other, but it was clear they were a unit.
“This place you’re going, it’s a girls only establishment eh?” he sucked his teeth , whilst clearly checking his girlfriend out. He looked like he wanted to drag her in the next room and bang the hell out of her. I looked away, feeling like a kid who just caught her parents in a compromising position.
“Pink Lotus is open to everyone” Kira snickered, rubbing it in his face and he looked less than impressed.
He had been our designated chaperone today, while we got ready to glam up. He had even treated us to lunch after we got back from the spa. Khenan had also privately confided in me that he got a ring and was waiting for a good moment to pop the question to Karishma. I hoped he wasn’t going to do it now, as a last ditch effort, to get him to go with us. Men could be crazy when they were desperate.
