Ajabdeh was in yellow pyjamas and a red top, absent-mindedly washing the dinner dishes in the kitchen. Her father walked in, seeing her pay no heed to his presence.
" Hmm... Angel?" Her parents exchanged glances at her lack of response. " Ajabdeh!"
" Ji Papa?"
" Woh... Ranisa called us..." Hansa walked in behind him.
" Accha?" Her tone was indifferent, looking at the dishes.
" You told her you want to get married?" Hansa asked. Her hand stopped at the dishes but she didn't look up.
" Haan, I made my decision." She nodded.
" Toh, Humse kehte beta, Ranisa..."
" Ranima se Kuch Kehna feels so easy, she doesn't ask questions." Her voice trailed as her parents looked at each other.
" Tum bolo" Hansa whispered.
" Nahi mood kharab hai tum bolo." Ram replied.
" Kya bolna hai..." She asked confused.
" Woh... Ranisa ne kaha..." Ram cleared his throat.
" Kya bola Ranima ne?"
" Unki nazar mein ek ladka hai." She stared blankly at her father. " Itni jaldi?"
" Haan... '' Hansa continued, " Aur humne bhi pasand hai."
" Ohh." She looked at her mother. A hint of sadness in her voice. " Puchoge nahi kaun hai?" Hansa asked.
She looked back at the dishes. " Kaun hai?" she asked plainly.
" Woh... Ranisa ko toh tum itni pasand ho na..." A smile appeared.
" She loves me a lot."
" Toh woh chahte hai k.i. "
" Kya chahte Ranima?"
" K tumko apne paas rakhe."
" Matlab?" She appeared like nothing was registering in her brain.
" Matlab tumko bahu banana chahte hai." The dish made a sound and fell from her hand.
" What crap! Unka toh ek hi Beta hai!" She looked at her parents wide-eyed, her cheeks turning pink.
" Ohh Ajabdeh! You are the luckiest girl in the world jo Ranisa ne tumhari haat mangi hai.." Her mother hugged her.
" But... But..." Her parents gushed about their happiness as she stared blankly finding it hard to breathe.
" But..." She walked up the stairs to her room in a loop. Closing the door she sat on the floor.

She got up, put on her jeans, and hurried to put some cash and clothes in her pink backpack.
" Ab jau kaise " She stared at the open window overlooking the garden. " Yes, yeh thik rahega." She smiled.
The backpack fell first on the lawn. Then She climbed down, holding the pipe and the sunshade. Getting up on her sneaker-clad feet she sighed in relief,
" Thank God kisi ne nahi dekha!"
" Are you sure?" His voice startled her as she turned around to see him standing, hands folded across his chest, wearing a proud sly smile, along with his jeans and tee.
