NOAH TOOK A SEAT IN THE GARDEN OF VOLTERRA, WATCHING THE UNUSUALLY POURING RAIN. He had spent a long time soothing his sister, discussing her options but they had reached no reasonable conclusion safe for her attempting to salvage what was left of her relationship with Chadwick. Noah had faith in the man's good intentions and it was Noah's humble opinion that Chadwick would eventually forgive Delilah for all her wrongdoings. It was dark in Volterra now and Delilah had no sooner arrived than she had given her notice to leave. She would be taking the earliest available flight back to whence she came. Noah felt that it left something of a hole in his heart to say goodbye to his sister for what he oddly felt would be the last time. But it was equally as refreshing to do so, to say goodbye to what was left of his past life-- safe for a few documents requiring his immediate attention, discussing the financial decline of his estate.

The garden was dark and hammering with rain and he sat on the wall, beneath the lip of a gazebo where the water couldn't touch him, a drink in hand but he was cold as he looked out at the glorious flowers and ferns. It was peaceful. Wherever the vampires were-- they weren't making any noise and he supposed they were in the city, hunting or partying with Raven.

Noah heard Caius' approach through the rain but didn't turn to him as the vampire walked up onto the podium. He closed his umbrella and shook it, placing it in one of the plant pots at the entrance. The gazebo was almost entirely covered with rose bushes and wisteria on all sides, the window where Noah perched and the doorway being the only points of access to what was within-- within currently was only Caius with a basket in his hand that he placed down gently on the floor. Noah didn't look at him but in his peripheral vision, he saw the king open the lid and pull out a thick blanket to lay over the floor and a wooden box. The lid slid off to reveal food for the human. Caius placed it in the centre and sat on the edge of the thick quilt. He didn't interrupt Noah's reverie but it felt oddly soothing to know that he was there.

The human swivelled until his feet touched the ground, the rain to his back and he watched Caius as the vampire lit a variety of lanterns, lighting the gazebo from within. It was beautiful and felt safe, intimately private where none others could see nor wish to greet them. Noah stood and turned to the window, tugging ribbons holding back the gossamer curtains. They closed, leaving a middle parting to see the garden rain. The other windows were closed with the rose vines as coverage and Noah walked around the edge to the door, tugging the wrought iron gate closed to effectively seal them inside.

When Noah turned back around to face Caius, he found the vampire kneeling on the blanket looking up at him, hands on his knees. Slowly, Noah approached him and stepped out of his shoes before stepping onto the blanket and kneeling in front of Caius. Ever so slowly, without breaking eye contact, Noah pulled his gloves off of his fingers and threw them to one side to be found again later.

"How was everything with your sister?"

"I do not want to speak about Delilah," Noah informed him calmly, "She has left," he ended the discussion and Caius frowned, opening his mouth to speak again. "In fact, I do not wish to speak at all," Noah grabbed Caius' face with both hands and slammed their lips together, Caius melting into him as they kissed with more of a fiery passion than Noah could ever recall. The vampire made no motion to break the connection as Noah pulled off the man's tie and pushed off his jacket.

Caius was, however, confused when Noah grabbed his wrists and placed them onto his own tie. It was then that the king moved back to look him in the eyes with the smallest frown. Noah said nothing, merely nodding with a small smile and while the burning passion remained, their movements slowed. Caius pulled Noah's tie free with as much slowness as he could muster. When it was free, Caius threw it aside with his own and looked up at Noah with curious eyes. Noah grabbed his hands again and placed them on his shirt.
