Caius Volturi could not say for certain exactly how long it had been since the black and white party at the castle. It could have been weeks, months or even years. All he knew was an aching agony in his chest-- the lack of Noah in his life and a burning in his throat from lack of blood. For the past however long, he'd been in a mixed state of dreaming from Nadia's gift and awake in the grim Romanian dungeon. His brothers, he hated to admit, were in no better state.

The blond king knew that they had been away for a long time because on that day, something changed. They were taken from their cells, bodies weak from almost desiccation, and deposited in an armoured van for a drive that seemed unending.

When the doors of the van opened, Caius thought that he was once again in one of Nadia's cruel dreams. They had parked beside a beautiful fountain that burst into three plumes of water like a giant beautiful shell. The water only had his attention for a short while before he was distracted by the house beyond it. It was something of a castle, surrounded by pink blossom trees and greenery. The building was tall, a palace in a dusty pink colour, clung to like vines under the shining, sparkling sun. Caius looked across at his brothers and they too were worried. Was this their final resting place? It could not have been a dream, as Caius thought it was because never in his dreams had he joined with his brothers.

"What is this place?" Marcus wondered, his voice hoarse and barely audible. Vladimir snickered like a child at their discomfort. Caius wished to rip his petty head off of his stupid shoulders but instead he was urged to stand by Stefan. Somehow, the two Romanians and their wicked shared bride had managed to overthrow the Volturi.

"You shall see," Nadia giggled to herself as she dragged Aro by the hair. The black-haired king was resigned to fate and looking more pitiful than Caius could ever recall having seen him. They were led inside, the door opened by a vampire Caius had never seen before, through countless elaborate halls to a meeting room with a giant glossy table in the centre. There, the three kings were chained to velvet crushed, high-backed chairs with their captors sitting opposite and free space at the end.

"He shall be with you shortly," the unknown vampire informed and disappeared. Caius could not explain his confusion but he was away from their captor's murky dungeon and he considered that a win. They were, at least, a step in the right direction-- at least, he hoped.

When the door opened again, his heart plunged out of his body and he thought he could die a human fate right there on the spot. Standing in the doorway, with his pale hands in his tailored trousers was Noah Harden.

Noah had a stern expression, mouth closed and body beautifully dressed but none of that was what Caius first noticed-- the first thing he realised was that Noah was no longer human. The human had turned into a vampire, an ungodly beautiful one with curly brown hair and vibrant red eyes. Caius felt as though he must have gone officially insane. His brothers had equal confusion written all over their faces.

If by some miracle, this was the rescue attempt and not just a delusion, they had to play along. Caius bit his tongue and instead just felt joyed in the presence of his soulmate after what must have been an incredibly long time. Noah was no longer a newborn, so much time had certainly elapsed.
