As they reached the lift he pressed the button and stepped in as the doors opened. Reaching forward he took her hand and helped her in the lift, instantly regretting the gesture as his whole body came alive. Just as quickly he dropped her hand and tried to put distance between them, trying to avoid the smell of her which seemed to surround him in the small space. He took small breaths through his mouth so he could concentrate enough to ask for the floor she needed.

"Five please" she said watching him as he moved slightly away from her. One hand in his pocket and the other in his hair, he looked like he was nervous as the doors closed and the lift moved quickly upwards. The usual drop of her stomach as the lift lurched to a stop caused her grab the railing, to stop her from reaching hold of Joe.

As the doors opened he stepped quickly out into the fresher air of the corridor relieved at how quickly his head started to clear with a little bit of distance between them. Moving further out he watched as she stepped forward and turned to the left, starting the walk down the corridor towards her room. Drop her off and walk away he kept telling himself as his heart banged against his chest.

Freya made her way down the corridor checking the numbers as she went with one eye closed, so to not give away how fuzzy her eyesight actually was. A slight giggle escaped her lips at how ridiculous the situation was. Its okay a few more minutes and you can go back to normal, you will probably wake up and find the whole thing was a dream she told herself as she got closer to her room.

That giggle was driving him insane, he was trying his hardest to keep everything together and she was making it impossible for him. He took one more deep breath as she stopped in front of her room and turned around to smile at him once more.

"Thank you again for tonight" she said leaning against the door for support, "I really have enjoyed myself."

"You're welcome", he replied tucking both hands in his back pockets so as not to reach forward and feel her touch again. "Sweet dreams." He said as he turned and started to walk away.

Freya reached for her key card as she watched him walk away. This was okay this was all it was meant to be. It's not like he liked her as she did him. Suddenly she saw he had stopped and was slowly turning back to look at her. She could feel her heart race as he started walking back.

What are you doing? Joe asked himself as he turned around and made his way back. This is insane keep walking and you'll be able to forget about her. Although he knew he wouldn't. If he didn't see this through he wouldn't sleep a wink for god knows how long. No one had affected him like this ever, he couldn't walk away from that.

"Hi." He said smiling coyly as he reached her. "Sorry I just have to say something and then I'll leave. Thank you, thank you for tonight, its been so nice to have company and conversation instead of eating in my room or alone. You're a pretty special person you know so don't forget that."

He turned to walk away again, hands in his pockets, knowing this was his last chance.

"Joe" She said hoping he would turn back again and not leave so soon.

"Yes." He said quickly returning to his place in front of her.

"I hope you have a great few days" She said panicking for something to say to make him stay.

"You too." He said placing a hand through his hair. All it would take is one step forward and they would be almost touching. Stepping forward me found himself looking directly into her eyes. So bright and so blue he could hardly look away, he felt like he was drowning. "Jesus" He said blowing out a breath he had been holding. "There's a fine line I know I shouldn't cross here, but I can't seem to help myself. If I don't kiss you right now, I'll not sleep until I do." He watched as she stared back at him, a fire in her eyes lighting up at his words. "Fuck it!" he said as he took that final step forward.
