Chapter 8: Dehsinav Otni Niht Ria

"S'ereht On Ecalp Ekil Emoh!" Zatanna cried and the smoke swirled around her to transports her all the way back home from her night out with her friend, and when she appeared on the front porch, she notice something off, the stained glass on the door is smashed. She enters her home and sees the whole house is in shambles, broken furniters, books all over the floor and there scorch marks on the walls.

"DAD!" she cried, but there's no reply, she called again and the house was silent as a graveyard, she thought of cast the Revealation Spell, so she can see what happen when she was gone.

"Wohs Em Tahw Neppah Ereh!", but she didn't received a vision, she cast another spell, it didn't work as well, she thought she lost her powers, so she cast a telekinetic spell on a book on the floor and it came to her. She still has her magic, but why her other spells didn't work. 

She search round the whole manor and he is nowhere to be found, her haert is racing as she's in panic, worried that something terrible happen to her father, she went in the study and found the study is also a mess like a result of a earthquake. She enters the study, then she found something that made her teared up, she found her father's broken golden pocket watch. 

Days later, the police search for John Zatara, squad cars searches the streets, Detective Lance, know Zatanna and her father, he helps out and console Zatanna and promise he'll find him. He thought that it was a robbery gone wrong, someone broke in, John cuaght them and there was a struggle, and probably kidnapped him for ransom. Zatanna thought his theory was correct, except that it wasn't a robbery gone wrong, John did say that he has enemies and maybe they found him.

A week later, Zatanna went to see Dinah's father for any leads on her father's dissappearance, Detective Lance didn't find him and he hates to admit that maybe John Zatara is propably be dead. Zatanna was silent, she thank detective Lance for his service and went home. She sits in the study, holding the broken pocket watch, thinking that maybe he isn't dead and she grabs a candle and cast a spell.

"Eldnac Thgil Pu, Fi S'eh Evila!" and then the candle was lit, which means that her father isn't dead and if the police couldn't find him, then she will. She lock herself in the manor searching through many books in the study and she tried every method of her magic, but found nothing that could help. Zatanna was up all night researching, even goes to the attic to find any more books and was more book that could filled a library, books of arcane spells, different realms and mythical creatures and monsters from different cultures. 

One afternoon, she was in the study, floating with her legs crossed, surrounded many floating books, she multi-tasking by many books at once, then she heard a sound of a motorcycle outside and there was a knock on the door. Zatanna was getting suspecious, what if it's someone who is the reason who made her father vanished, she had a defence spell ready in her mind, she opens a door and see a blonde biker girl.

"Dinah?!" Zatanna said with a huge smile on her face, "Surprise Zee!" Dinah said as she enter to give her best friend a big hug, Zatanna was surprised to see her, she notice that Dinah has a black bike and her outfit is amazing, a black leather jacket with yellow racing stripes and heeled boots.

She asked her what brought her here and Dinah said that she is popping over for a visit, and she asked if she can stay over for a while. Zatanna said that she'll be happy to have her stayed over, Dianh walks in with her bag in and she remomerize the manor.

"It's been ages since I've been here" Dinah said as she settle herself in the living room, Zatanna made some tea and they both catch up. They haven't seen each other since they finished high school, they talk about the good times they had together, then Dinah said the reason that she's visiting is because her father told her about John's disappearance.

"I just wish I know what to do," Zatanna said, "all I know is that he is alive.", "How do you know that?" Dinah asked, then Zatanna could tell her how she knows, so she told her that she had a feeling that she knows and then Dinah said that she's also searching for answers.

"Remember I told you that my mum left me when I was a infaint?" Zatanna nodded and Dinah said that she been to Gotham City to search for answers about her mom and figure out her disappearance. Dinah even told her that she discovers something about herself that she never know, she stood up and she told her host to cover her ears, Zatanna did cover her ears, then Dinah took in a deep breath and let a loud scream, but there was a explosion of sound wave came out of her mouth and it smashed the window. Zatanna was shocked to see Dinah broke the window with her voice,

"I know this is crazy, but I have powers." Dinah said, "And it's all thanks to my mom." Then Zatanna asked her how her mother is the reason of her sonic scream, Dinah told her that she discovers her powers a few months ago, then she told her father and Lawrence Lance told her the truth, that she inhairits her mother's powers and then he told her that Dinah's mother was Black Canary. 

"Sorry about you window." Dinah said, then Zatanna said with a smile, "You're not the only one with powers", then Zatanna cast a spell, Dinah sees her eyes glowed blue and then she saw the window reassembles itself. Dinah was so shocked , she asked her many questions and Zatanna told her the whole story. 

And after Zatanna told her story, she asked Dinah to tell her story and Dinah began to tell her the tale of how she became the new Black Canary.
