Darcy Pov:

"I'm coming in." I said, before slowly unzipping the entrance. When I pulled the cover away I saw Jim struggling to cover themself as their pants were halfway down their legs as well as their underwear. Before they could cover themselves or I could look away I saw their lower half.

But it wasn't what I expected.

I knew they went by they/them pronouns, but I expected they'd have a man's body. But they didn't. I looked at the ground of the tent and saw a puddle of blood. As well as that, I saw what I initially believed was paper.

I was now starting to understand. The grunt of pain. Falling over. Curling in a ball. Struggling to walk. The rustling of the 'paper'.

"Are you intersex?" I ask them. A blush forms over their cheeks as they tried to hide in their hands. "Hey. It's alright, I'm not mad at you for not telling me." I said as carefully and softly as I could. They still refused to look at me, and was now staring at a corner of the tent. I debate pushing more, but decide against it. They've already been through enough today. "I'll leave some heat pads at the entrance. I'm going back to my tent now." I say semi-awkwardly as I turn around and crawl out. I didn't mean to be rude in my exit, but it was clear they needed some alone time. "Tell me if you need anything else."

Just a disclaimer that I am a male that isn't transgender or intersex, so I don't know periods from the perspective of someone who gets them. Basically all I know is what I've seen on TikTok (which isn't a lot), so I hope this didn't/doesn't seem rude or disrespectful to people who get periods.
