Darcy Pov:

I tossed and turned in the sleeping bag for what felt like an eternity. I couldn't stop thinking about what might be happening to Monica at this very moment. The only glimpses into the false world was the tv show Wanda was broadcasting, and that may not be the truth. She could be doing anything to them, and I'd never know. If I could change anything, I'd tell Monica how I felt about them before they went to the damned hex. I would've fought back against Hayward.

I heard a zipping from Jim's tent, but thought nothing of it. Then I heard them at my tent's entrance.

"Are you alright, Darcy?" They ask. My heart glows as I realize how much they care for me. But I can't be weak. I have to be strong and handle whatever by myself. I'm probably bothering them anyway.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry for bothering you." I say, trying to steady my voice.

"You aren't bothering me, I just want to make sure you're okay. Are you sure you are okay?" They ask, again making me tear up at their kindness. But I can't. I can't say yes. I can't say anything. Nothing is exiting my mouth. Nothing is entering either. I can't breathe!

I curl up in a ball rocking back and forth, tears falling silently from my eyes. Jimmy is obviously concerned at the sudden silence, so they open my tent. They see me on the ground, and hold me close. I cry openly into their shoulder, wishing that I could explain what was wrong. But I couldn't. All I can do is cry. My eyes quickly run dry, as I didn't have much water today.

Narrator POV:

Unsure what to do, or what Darcy's boundaries are, Jimmy opts to simply rub her back. Darcy continues to sob, even when her eyes are out of tears. Every few seconds, she hiccups, scaring Jimmy the first few times. She eventually recognizes them to not be a threat, and stops tensing up, relaxing into their hand.

Thanks to Jimmy's help, Darcy nods off to sleep on their shoulder. Jimmy is left unsure how to lay her down without waking her up, so they decide to stay close, laying on their front so Darcy doesn't accidentally suffocate on the tent floor.

As they lay down, their heart rate picks up, noticing how close they are. Jimmy is unable to sleep that night as they think about the woman on their shoulder. Not knowing that she is currently dreaming and thinking of someone else...
