"I don't want us just
to be a memory."

I didn't remember a whole lot after Dustin showed. I snapped back to reality once I was sat in a movie theater, completely alone. There were two empty seats where Robin and Steve must have been sitting next to me.

I focused on the screen. Back to the Future was playing. My mind began to wander and, suddenly, Eddie was sat next to me.

"Aren't gonna be too scared, are ya?" he joked.

"Me? I'm worried about you, Munson." I smirked at him. "Hand me the M&M's."

We were getting ready to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street. People had been raving about it for days, and I finally talked Eddie into having a real theater experience instead of making us wait for months to be able to buy or rent the VHS.

Eddie watched as I tore open the M&M's and dumped them right into our popcorn bucket.

"And we're doing this why?" he asked.

"Just trust me and grab a handful of everything." He grabbed the handful, but hesitated. I smashed his hand into his mouth. "Just eat it!"

"Okay, okay," he laughed. He chewed for a second. "Ah. Sweet and salty. I get it."

"See? We never could have had this experience if we waited."

"Well..." He shrugged. "We still could have."

"It's not the same!" I protested. "It's just better..."

"...this way," I said.

"Are you sure it's this way?" Eddie asked.

"Yes, see!" I pointed at the parking garage sign. "Parking garage, next left."

"I should have made you drive." He playfully rolled his eyes.

We parked in the next available spot and ran giddily down the sidewalks. We were seeing Metallica! Excitement vibrated through our bodies. I was somehow lucky enough to grab us floor tickets a few months before.

Eddie held my hand as he weaved us through the crowd, trying to grab us decent spots. The venue was much bigger than I had anticipated.

"How's this?" he asked, placing me in front of him.

"Perfect," I told him. We were probably ten rows back from the stage. I never figured out how we managed to get this close.

The lights went out and Eddie grabbed my waist. He leaned down to my ear. "This is about to be the best night of my life, all thanks to you."

"Best night of both of our lives," I said.

Eddie and I had an absolute blast. We sang together, danced together, I watched as he played air guitar with his fingers, of course, in the right spots. And as they were finished playing their last song, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and the lights came back on, Eddie spun me around and lifted me up into a hug.

"God, I love you," he told me. "I don't know what I would do without you."

"I love you too, Eds," I laughed.

A woman walked up to us as he let me down. "You guys are absolutely adorable."

"Oh, thanks," I said, blushing.

"Cutest couple ever," she said.

"Oh, we're not together," I told her.

She leaned into me. "Honey, the way that man looks at you, you..."
