Mary Anne Routledge is John B's twin sister, and a fellow Pogue.
Despite all the challenges she has to face with her dad disappearing, and pursuing his legacy, she finds herself with a difficult choice to make - who will she choose: her best friend...
Who doesn't love Outer Banks? I've lived here all my life, and I love it. I'm Mary Anne Routledge, John B's twin sister. Funny right? John and Mary? Yeah, our parents weren't very creative there. We don't look much alike, thank goodness. I would not want to have John B's face with long hair and boobs. Also, let's please thank my parents for not giving me Booker as a middle name. Speaking of parents, our dad went missing almost a year ago, leaving John B and I to hang out with our best friends Kiara, Pope, and JJ every day. John B and I met them in primary school, and it's easy to say we've been inseparable ever since. We had always been very close, but ever since our dad went missing at sea, the five of us became closer than ever.
Last year when Kie stopped hanging out with us and had her "kook year" as we call it, I ended up having a... thing with Rafe Cameron, the Kook prince. Tragic, I know. Ever since we "broke up", I've been way closer to the Pogues than I was before. Pogues, that's what we call the people that live in the Cut, also known as the poor part of Outer Banks; Kooks, is what we call the people that live in Figure 8, also known as the rich part of Outer Banks. John B, JJ, Pope, and I are all Pogues. Kie should be a Kook, since her parents are hella rich and own an institution called The Wreck, which is where I work by the way, but she is a Pogue at heart.
