MARIA'S POV

I barley sleep anymore, every time i close my eyes it's like I'm back in that warehouse, the boys are always around me, but I keep my distance it's been a month since the incident. Today I had to face those monsters in court. My lawyer told me that they're trying to plead insanity, but I want them to be put away, I never want them to do what they did to me and the boys to anyone else.

"Miss Sanchez please come to the stand" I didn't want to look at the monsters, I walk over and swear the oath "how old are you miss Sanchez" Theo the attorney asks me "18" I respond "and how do you know Mr Rivera and Mr peters?" "Mr Rivera was dating my sister off and on since I was 14 and I met Mr peters at a friends party" "is it true you dated Mr peters?" I take a breath "unfortunately I did" Theo nods "and during your relationship did you and Mr peters fight?" "No, not until the night we broke up" "and the night you broke up is it true that Mr peters was assaulted by your two friends?" I look at Theo "Mr peters assaulted me and was trying to force himself on me, Drake and Trent came and stopped it" Theo turns his back to me "miss Sanchez did they stop Mr peters or did they assault him, yes or no?" "No" I say, it wasn't assault, they intervened "so they didn't trespass into Mr peters home and attack him?" He was mixing everything up "they did but because they were trying to help me" I can't believe this guy "and this wasn't the first time your friend Drake assaulted Mr peters or Mr Rivera was it?" "No it wasn't" I'm getting angry "is it true that you propositioned Mr Rivera in exchange for recreational drugs?" I almost choke, what the fuck "No" "so you didn't come on to Mr Rivera and seduce him in exchange for marijuana?" "No, my sister wasn't home I was making myself some dinner and he came on to me! I told him no, I begged him to stop. But he didn't listen, I was 14 I wasn't strong enough to fight off a grown man" he sighs "is it true that you and Mr peters consumed recreational drugs throughout your relationship?" "Yes, he offered them to me and I took them wanting to have a good time" he nods "did you participate in sexual activities while in a relationship with Mr peters?" I feel sick "yes, before he showed me who he really was" he nods "and is it true you cheated on Mr peters on multiple occasions?" "No I'm not a cheater" he gives me a look, one that said he didn't believe me "Miss Sanchez, I will remind you that you are under oath" "and my answer is the same, he accused me of cheating because I didn't answer my phone one night, and he lost it at me, hurt me and tried to rape me, but Drake and Trent stopped him" "and was this the last time you saw Mr peters?" "No, he managed to get into my school, he threatened me with a knife, tried to get me to do things to show him I was sorry" "and what were these things he supposedly tried to get you to do?" I look down, I hadn't told anyone what actually happened that day in the science room "Miss Sanchez we are waiting" I take a shaky breath "he pulled me into a room, he started to go on about how he missed me, he eventually told me I needed to show him how sorry I was, he held a knife to my cheek and made me get on my knees... he undid his pants, pulled my hair so my face was closer to his crotch" tears start to fall from my eyes, I quickly wipe them away "he wanted me to perform oral sex on him, he had the knife pressed to my cheek so hard I was bleeding, I couldn't do it, so I grabbed his testicles and hurt him enough to escape, the principal was made aware of what happened and the police were called" I can see Drake he looks beyond mad, his glaring at Theo like he wanted to kill him "and is it true that Mr Rivera and your sister started dating again?" "Yes" "why would your sister date someone who supposedly raped you?" "She didn't believe me" I say quietly "sorry Miss Sanchez but you'll need to speak up" Theo says with a small smile "she didn't believe me" I repeat louder "well if your sister didn't believe you there had to be a reason, right?" "Not really, she just didn't want to think her boyfriend was capable of something like that" he nods "or maybe she knew it wasn't true, I've seen your record Miss Sanchez you have quite a troubled past" "objection your honour my client is not the one on trial here" my lawyer says "sustained, Mr young please keep your questioning on topic" the judge says looking down at Theo "very well, I have one last question miss Sanchez" he pauses walks towards the jury, than faces me "is it true that you told Mr peters that you wished Drake and Trent would leave you alone for good" after the party where Trent punched Sam, I told him that the two boys were idiots and needed to leave me alone and let me live my life "I told him I wanted them to leave me alone and let me live my life, I didn't say for Good, I just wanted them to back off a bit" "thank you Miss Sanchez, the defence rests" he walks back over to his disgusting clients, I walk back to my lawyer. My lawyer questioned the two creeps, he grilled them. Finally the jury's had to go to make there decision, we left the court house. Deliberations took 4 days. I enter the court house, why did it take so long surely the jury saw how messed up these guys were, they're dangerous. I'm pulled from my thoughts "has the jury reached a verdict?" The judge asks, one of the jury members stands "we the jury find the defendants guilty to 3 first degree kidnappings, guilty of 2 aggravated rapes, and guilty of 7 aggravated assaults" "you may sit, now I will provide the sentencing" the judge pauses "I don't usually make statements but today I will, after listening to the defendants and the victims I feel that it is important to remember that these men not only physically harmed these young people but emotionally and mentally scarred them, they will have to live with this for the rest of their lives, no amount of time will repair the damage caused by these two individuals who brought harm against 3 teens, that being said I sentence the 2 defendants to the maximum 17 years in prison without parol, please escort them out of my court room" the gavel slams and the guard takes them away "I'll fucking kill you Maria!" Sam yells as his being taken away.

It's finally graduation day, this day felt like it'd never come. "Samantha Collins" "James winter" "Calvin Adams" "Maria Sanchez" "Trent cunning" "Drake Fuller"

"So are you guys ready for this next step!" Trent yells he got in to Harvard, to say we were all shocked was an understatement "definitely" Drake got into the police academy, after everything that happened he decided he wanted to be part of the team that takes the bad guys down "I'm ready to party" I laugh we decided to throw one last party, Trents parents were going away after the graduation ceremony so we had the perfect place "hey Maria, can we talk?" Things have been weird between me and Drake, after everything I haven't wanted to be touched by anyone "yeah what's up?" We hang back Trent, Teresa and Miguel are walking ahead "look I know that with everything that happened it's been a bit awkward between us" he scratches the back of his head "but I really like you Maria, and I know you probably need some time" he rushes out "but I want you to know I'll wait, I'll wait as long as it takes" "Drake, I just don't think I'll be ready anytime soon I'm sorry" he gives me a sad smile "I'll wait" then he walks off, I didn't deserve him, he deserved someone who was kind and stable, someone who didn't have such a messed up past.
