~~~A year later~~
I picked up my phone and saw an email notification. I wondered who it could be from:
Hey babe, it's Alden...All night party at 8pm till you drop. Are you off on Friday night?" The message read.
Why would Alden invite me to a party? He was one of the coolest guys in the class and he was handsome too. I was not the party type and at the same time I didn't want to decline the invitation. I was going to be available on Friday, my dad was on business trip and my mum had gone with him, leaving their good girl to herself. A night party...? I rarely ventured outside, except when I went to stock up on clothes or wanted to go on a trip outside LA.
Soon, the new trend of wanting to party got to me and my inability to cope with others socially made me feel desolate. I dared myself to take a shot, a chance and Alden's invitation was a perfect opportunity to do so.
I was living in LA; LA is one of the entertainment capitals of the world. A city full of clubs, beaches, entertainment and so much more. I now noticed how much I had been cheating on myself with my room.
I wanted people who'd take me out to parties and pubs to chill my night out.
I was growing into a woman. So that party was an ideal chance to party with people in town.
That Friday, I put aside my introverted spirit and put on a new gown of geniality. I vowed to steal all the stares at the party. I selected an outfit which was more revealing but I didn't care, it was supposed to be a party not a church service. I put on an expensive perfume from Victoria's secret and dyed the base of my hair dark brown. I knew for sure, everyone would notice me. How I even switched from my reticence to becoming a 'baddie' who wanted all the eyes surprised me, but I loved it.
I was done dressing and I waited patiently till 8pm for Alden to come and pick me up. Who knew? This party could actually lead me into a possible love affair and I was ready for it.
He was very nice to me and I excused his kind gestures as him being friendly because he had a girlfriend and they had been dating for years. He pulled up in his fancy G-wagon and beeped his car whistle beckoning me to come out as I stared at him through my window. I shook off the nervousness and climbed down the stairs straight to his car. This dark haired guy stretched out his arms for a hug and I embraced him. He wore a blue shirt with three or four buttons opens, exposing his bare chest.
"You look smashing rocking this natural look", he complimented
I shivered a little as he examined my body, scanning me from head to toe.
"Uh, thanks"
"Shall we?"
He extended his hands and my palm fell into his, he opened the door for me and took the driver's seat and drove off.
As the car moved I gazed at my house, leaving it for the first time, moving out with a stranger-not wholly a stranger. I didn't feel good but this time I let my heart's desire win against what I knew to be right. I decided to trust Alden for I felt safe with him.
"Where's she?" I asked him alluding to Sara, his girlfriend.
"She's waiting for me there"
They were all my classmates, so that could possibly mean that the others were present too. I was full of questions, only that I didn't want to bother him while he was driving. That Friday was our last till we reopened for our final year.
The car reached a halt and we had reached our destination. In his gallant ways, he reached out to open my side of the door and led me out gently. The place was full of hyper teens who were already making the most out of their young lives. I turned blue; on seeing a lot of people and young girls who looked my age, 17 taking shisha and looking high, a guy and a girl having a stand and carry at a corner, pole dancers and a lot. I grasped at Alden's hand firmly all through the time. He led me to the main room and I saw a lot of my mates, dancing their heads off.
