"White fur..."
Cathy gazed up at me in awe because of my massive white wolf. She gently touched Nala's cheek to feel the softness of her fur. I could see the amazement in her eyes as she continued to stroke our fur with her fingers.
"Sophia!" Khate giggled and eagerly approached me to touch Nala's cheek too. "You're beautiful!" It was the first compliment she had ever given me. In the past, her words were always judgmental, but now that I had Nala, she praised me.
"Mommy!" Cathy ran towards the kitchen door to call her mother from inside the house. "Look at Sophia here!"
Nala wanted to leave in front of Khate, but I stop her first, we had to stay for a while because Cathy called Auntie Elvie. I didn't want to appear rude, so I decided to show my wolf form to Auntie first before allowing Nala to run into the forest.
"Hey! What's going on here?" Ceylon emerged from the kitchen and looked directly at me. "A white wolf? Who is that?"
"That's Sophia," Cathy answered, peeking into the kitchen again. "Hey Mom—oh, you're here."
"Where is she?" I heard Auntie Elvie's voice. Before I saw her coming out of the kitchen, Ceylon approached me.
"Is that you, Sophia?" he asked. In response, I bowed to him. "But your mother is not a white wolf."
Auntie came out from the kitchen. I could see the surprise in her eyes. The surroundings were dark, but my vision was clear. "Sophia..." The resentment I used to see in her eyes seemed to disappear. It was replaced by love and pride in what she saw in me now.
Tears filled her eyes—tears of joy for me. I finally felt that she truly was my aunt. The way she touched my cheek was filled with emotion. "You are a gift to us. I don't know who your father is, what his race is, or where he comes from. But your energy, you are stronger than us, Sophia."
I pressed my face against hers, and she hugged me tightly. I could sense the overwhelming emotions enveloping her well-being. "I'm sorry..." she whispered as she hugged Nala's head and Nala just lowered it too. The scent of my Aunt's emotions grew stronger. "I-I'm sorry if I treated you poorly. I thought you...you were the result of your mother's blasphemy. It's a sin to love a rogue in this pack." She swallowed and sobbed, then continued, "B-But now that I see you, you are not a product of a mistake. You're not the daughter of...of a rogue, Sophia."
I bowed my head as my aunt wiped away her tears in front of me. I could feel her remorse, so I couldn't do anything but send a mind link, 'I'm holding no grudges against you, Auntie. Let's forget the past and start anew.'
Her eyes twinkled as a small tear fell from it. "Sophia..."
I wanted to show her my smile, but I couldn't since I was in wolf form. 'Please, don't cry, Auntie.'
She chuckled while wiping her tears. "I'm sorry. Do you want to explore? Your fur is a different color, and others might think you're a spy from another pack."
"I can go with her, Mom." My cousin, Ceylon, were right beside us, volunteered.
"Very well, but be careful."
I quickly ran into the forest, and I heard Khate shout, 'Bye, Sophia!' I sensed Ceylon's energy shifting into a wolf form, and he followed me wherever I went. I didn't know if Ceylon could keep up since he was a warrior, so I tested his speed by running faster.
A cold wind greeted me as I leaped high to reach the other cliff. I realized I had arrived at Lupusmons mountain. The forest here was dense, filled with tall and large trees. I stopped and looked behind me. I couldn't see Ceylon, but I could feel his energy approaching. Soon, he appeared in my sight running towards me.
