"Isn't Mr. Dencio's daughter's wolf too aggressive? Does her wolf really want to find their mate?"

We were gathered in the dining area of the packhouse, with only the three of us, Beta, Alpha, and myself, sitting at the table. Eros, the Alpha, simply shrugged in response to the Beta's question, showing little interest in the matter. In fact, the Alpha seemed more focused on his hunger, silently devouring his meal.

"My wolf also longs for his mate, but he doesn't pressure me to find her," the Beta muttered, shaking his head.

"You're living her and a Beta, you have the ability to control your wolf because you have experience and knowledge about our kind. Mr. Dencio's daughter, on the other hand, has lived a life of hiding and being distant from us. Her wolf yearns for their mate of course," Eros responded directly.

The Beta fell silent, realizing that the Alpha had put an end to the discussion. Eros had a way of explaining things that left little room for further questions. I continued eating, feeling a sense of unease in the atmosphere. I wasn't close enough to the Beta, Algie, to join in the conversation.

Suddenly, the Alpha, still focused on cutting his meat, asked, "How about the CCTV footage from the restaurant?" He didn't even look at Beta Algie as he spoke.

My heart skipped a beat, fearing that someone might have seen what I had done to the vampire. Beta took a sip of water before replying, "There's no footage of that area on the CCTV."

Relief washed over me, but I refrained from smiling, afraid that the Alpha might notice and reprimand me. Even though I was in the clear, I still felt responsible for being careless. The Alpha finally looked up, making eye contact with Beta Algie. "Good. That settles our problem," he said.

"Sort of, Alpha. But even if Mr. Dencio's daughter is a werewolf, I still find it hard to trust him," Algie remarked. Mr. Dencio was still human, after all, and there was a possibility that he might reveal the truth about us. "What if we bring his daughter here? Let's borrow her—"

"Really, Algie?" The Alpha's eyes narrowed at his Beta, still holding his knife and fork. I wondered why the Alpha reacted that way to Algie's suggestion. Even Beta Algie furrowed his brow in response to the Alpha's question.

"Why not? I think it's a valid idea. Mr. Dencio's daughter is a werewolf, just like us. I don't think she would pose a threat to our pack," the Beta raised an eyebrow, while the Alpha chuckled and took another bite. "Hey! I'm serious here, okay? Or maybe you have something in mind, Eros?" The Alpha's smile gradually faded as Algie mentioned his name. "I called you by your name as my cousin, not as my Alpha. I mean, separate from that," he clarified.

The Alpha rolled his eyes. "What did you say again? You want to bring Mr. Dencio's daughter here because she's a werewolf like us?"

Although I wasn't directly involved in the conversation, I felt a sense of exclusion. Perhaps my place at the dining table was solely to add a feminine touch to their conversation...just a bystander to their discussion.

"Again, is it wrong? Is it impossible?" Beta asked, annoyed.

The Alpha shrugged. "It's not that. I just thought you might want to bring her here because you're hoping she might be your mate." Beta's eyes widened, and the Alpha chuckled. "You're like me, waiting for a mate for a long time. I found mine, but you haven't. Actually, I wouldn't mind having Mr. Dencio's daughter here, so I can find out if she's your mate or not."

The Beta blinked twice in surprise. "Honestly, I don't really care if my mate never comes." He shook his head and continued, "Especially if it becomes awkward—"

"Algie... how could it be awkward if you're mated to each other?"

"You're right! It wouldn't be awkward. But please don't tease me, so I don't feel awkward," Beta Algie frowned, and I suppressed a laugh. I focused on my food, stuffing my mouth to keep myself from laughing. I didn't want to annoy Beta either.
