That year, the seven kingdoms faced the danger of not having any rainfall, which caused the sudden drought that almost destroyed the peace under King Jaehaery's reign. Not even the Reach had enough crops to feed their people. The North was barely surviving themselves as were the Vale and the Riverlands. The Westerlands and Stormlands along with Dragonstone and Driftmark also failed to gather harvest. Not even Dorne was spared. Some whispered that their lands had been cursed. Poverty and hunger had befallen the kingdom. But amidst such a crisis, Lady Aemma, wife of Prince Viserys Targaryen was pregnant for the fourth time and fervently praying for this babe to survive and join their elder sister Princess Rhaenyra in the royal nursery.

At the end of that cruel summer, Lady Aemma went into labor. The night was dark but the unexpected storm that started was documented to be the worst storm in the history of Westeros. As her labor progressed so did the storm and the people all around the kingdom prayed for the rain to fall. At the hour of the wolf, a beautiful princess with dark silver hair and amethyst eyes was brought into the world.

The moment she was born, a red comet painted the sky and the Maesters witnessed the Glass candles – one green and three black – that had been brought to the citadel from Valyria a thousand years before the Doom of Valyria lit up on its own as if by magic.

When the new princess cried, the storm stopped and the first rainfall of that terrible year began. King Jaehaerys himself named her Princess Danaera Stormborn Targaryen and gave her the title of the Realm's Hope. The bell was rung throughout King's Landing to announce her birth and the people across the seven kingdoms celebrated in joy for Princess Danaera brought hope and prosperity with her.

A dragon egg was placed beside Princess Danaera as she lay in her crib, but unfortunately, it turned to stone. The people of the kingdom believed that the Princess had to give up her right to bond with a dragon to save the people of Westeros from the drought. She was thus honored with expensive and thoughtful gifts from every noble household. Even the common folk came together to shower the Princess of twelve moons with white roses during the tourney for her name day.

White roses that symbolize purity, innocence, new beginnings, loyalty, unity, peace, and love

Princess Danaera grew up to be a very happy, mischievous, charming, and quick-witted child. She was the apple of her parent's eye and her uncle Daemon's favorite niece. In the course of time, the Princess's dark silver hair turned dark blonde which would eventually be black with a certain shine only seen in the descendants of Valyria, her large doe-eyes were a sparkling amethyst color, identical to her great-grandsire King Jaehaerys, and her pouty lips and round, cherubic face gave the glimpse of how beautiful she will be growing up. But growing up she still felt the deep sadness of not having a dragon bonded to her.

Prince Baelon believed his youngest and arguably his most treasured granddaughter to be born with the spirit of her grandmother Princess Alyssa Targaryen. In remembrance of his late wife, as she loved flying across the kingdoms he gifted Princess Danaera a land surrounded by Dorne, Stormlands, and Reach and named it Summerhall for the season of her birth.

When the Great Council was called in 101 AC and Prince Viserys was declared heir to the Iron Throne it was clear that King Jaehaerys's health was failing him. In that great council, he will was finalised but another announcement was made – "𝑶𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒆𝒓𝒂'𝒔 𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒉 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒂𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑽𝒂𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒚𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒚'𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒚 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑱𝒂𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒔 𝑰 𝑻𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒚𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒐 "

No one knew why such an announcement was made but it was believed that the Old King loved his youngest great-granddaughter more than anything and wanted to ensure her future even after his death.

They didn't know how right they were, after all, King Jaehaerys didn't favor Viserys's claim to the throne for the Prince's own eligibility but to ensure Princess Danaera her due because she is the hope for the survival of the House of Dragon and that of the Long Night

On another note, the announcement is written in Shakespearean English but here is the original one – "On the eve of Princess Danaera's ninth name day celebration, Archmaester Vaegon Targaryen will formally announce and acknowledge her inheritance as declared by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen in the presence of the lords of Seven Kingdoms but not before that."
