It was poetic really—blitzing trough The Palace's hallways precisely when Asgard's weather outside changed from cool to a roaring storm. Vera didn't truly notice it as she sprinted with ringing ears and Loki on her heels. The adrenaline coursing trough her veins blocked every sense from their loud footsteps, rapid breathing, drumming heart, and thunder outside. Only a faint flickering peeking trough the windows they now and than passed was a hint of today's weather's state. But despite running past and trough those lights, neither of the two truly noticed. Determination was this feeling, ready to make an end to all that suffering.
Stumbling trough the last hallway, with the music room in sight, reality shot back to her eyes, giving her the ability to actually speak. "So tell me why I didn't kill her?!" She shouted over her shoulder.
Loki noticed her slowing down by the fact that he was able to pass her now, following up by him taking her arm and keeping up the pace for their last few steps to reach the doors. "Well, for one, you'll end up behind bars for murder. Then there's reason number two-" He opened one door for her, for a second long playing the perfect gentleman in a casual situation where he watched her enter the room first. "She is still your sister."
She huffed the same time Loki hastily closed the door behind him. "Lovely."
Inside, Astrid had been waiting on the pair. Once the two entered, she immediately shot up from a chair. "Finally." She exclaimed, worry etched on her face. "Are we going to do this or not?"
"I got caught." Loki told her out of breath, as Vera immediately ran for the lock to insert the key and open the hidden door. "We need to do this right now, and we can not linger. Morgun is on our heels."
Astrid had been left in the dark when it came to Vanaheim's Princess—purposely so. She had heard Morgun's name pop up here and there during their last meet-up, but had never heard the full backstory. Knowing what she knew already was enough to be here. The Warlock's Eye was real and active, meaning she had no reason to ask for more information about the one who had activated it. Knowing the evil behind that friendly princess' face would most likely only scare her off. Even right now, following Loki and Vera inside the room to The Eye, knowing she was going against royalty, made it all the more scary.
"How long will it take?" Loki asked Astrid as he circled The Eye, and claimed a spot behind it.
"It's hard to say." Astrid closed the distance now as well, taking her place not too far where Loki stood, seidr swirling around his held up hands. "I have never extracted dark magic before. But you were right telling me this wasn't a one-person job. "
"But you will make it." Vera more questioned than stated, closing the door and turning the lock on the inside. "Right?"
With green and yellow seidr attaching to the buzzing and glowing orb, Loki was the one who quickly nodded. "We have to."
Light danced around the room before there was any time to waste. The sound of colliding beams and struggling breaths were the only sounds for Vera's ears to focus on, as her eyes stared nervously at the door. No words were spoken all the while the two wielders wrestled with the darkness. No looks, stares, small movements of reassurance were made towards each other, for the tension, nerves, and complete fear cut the room into millions of pieces.
Vera should have killed her. Piercing her gaze trough the door with her thrumming heart from nerves leaving her out of breath alone, she realised that much. She cursed herself for it, that for once in her life she didn't listen to her own impulse. She could have killed Morgun. Loki and Astrid could have taken their time, fear wouldn't be present as much as it was right now, and further threats from the witch would have been eliminated from future time. They could have fabricated a story—Loki was a witness, after all. They could have told that she had acted on self defence, which was true when looking at the bigger picture. There was enough proof for Morgun to be an evil force already.
