It was a peaceful evening in the small town of Faraway, and during this time, the rain poured harshly onto the cold suburban streets. Our familiar raven-haired protagonist sat on the soft couch of his now-boyfriend's home, watching the warm fireplace flicker in the silence of the room, well, a silence that didn't last for long.
"Sunny!" An enthusiastic voice called out, and the figure jumped onto the couch, causing Sunny to bounce up a bit, it was none other than Kel, who squeezed him in a tight cuddle before releasing the boy who probably couldn't breathe. "Oh, sorry." He chuckled, handing the shorter boy a tub of sweet and salted popcorn he'd placed on the table less than a few seconds ago. "I got our popcorn first because I know you've been waiting the longest for the movie to start." He flashed his trademark grin before trapping Sunny in another hug, but this time, Sunny could actually get air. Today was a sunday, and to be honest it was like any other day in Faraway. Peaceful, quiet, the sort...unless the hooligans were around to cause chaos, speaking of the group in particular, it wasn't long until their pink-haired leader entered the living room with her own tub of popcorn. She fell back onto the couch, digging her hand through the tub and chucking handfuls of warm popcorn into her mouth, despite the movie hadn't even started yet. She turned around to face Kel and Sunny, who were giving her weird looks. Well, Kel mostly. Sunny's expression barely changed from his neutral one.
"What?" She questioned, raising a single eyebrow as she held a single piece of popcorn between her index finger and thumb, the boys just stared at her.
"..You're clearly staring, what's the matter with you two?"
"Oh, nothing," Kel replied dramatically, frowning and crossing his arms.
"Well it's obviously not nothing, you must have a reason."
"Well if you're so curious, you just broke one of the most important rules in movie nights," Kel complained, and Sunny nodded in agreement, his stare looked a lot more judgemental now.
"And that is?"
"You're eating before the movie starts, Aubrey! That's like, illegal!"
The delinquent groaned and she rolled her eyes, turning her gaze away from the two and back at the blank screen that belonged to the TV. "No, it isn't." She said simply.
"It so is!"
"Over who's authority?" Aubrey chucked the popcorn piece into the air, catching it in her mouth, as a result she earned a thumbs up from Sunny.
The basketballer's face scrunched up slightly, "Uh, OUR authority! Especially mine, considering this movie night takes place in my house. And-"
"No." Aubrey stopped him.
"I can hear you guys bickering, even from the kitchen." A deeper voice interrupted, and out popped Hero from the hallway that led to the kitchen, who had his own little tub of buttered popcorn. "We can't go one day without one of those, can we?" He continued, sitting on his dad's leg rest chair that had a patterned cushion resting on it. Aubrey brought her knees closer to her chest, paying no attention to Kel sticking his tongue out at her, "He started it." She said in her defense, though Kel was not having it. His eyes widened as if he'd been struck with an arrow, "So not true! You were breaking the rules."
"There are no rules, Kel." The pinkette replied, and Kel just rambled on,
"There are rules! How has nobody ever told you this before?"
Aubrey groaned dramatically and she turned her head to glance at Sunny, "Sunny, please tell me you're not actually agreeing to this-" She gave him a fed-up look, and Kel immediately moved his arm in front of Sunny, as if shielding him from Aubrey, "Nuh uh uh! You already know he's on my side! He knows the sacred movie night rules." He glared. Sunny had his hands on Kel's arm as if he was peaking from behind, and he nodded in agreement. Aubrey just facepalmed and she was going to say something before Kel stopped her. "Wait! Sh." He held a finger up, and there was silence for a few seconds.
