Biana's POV

It was the last day of school. I couldn't believe it.

It seemed like only a day ago Keefe had broken up with me and everything had changed.

Throughout the rest of the year, Linh, Sophie, Marella and I became good friends, while Tam and I became even closer. Keefe and I remained in an awkward friendship, while Kelly was still acting as sour as ever. But that didn't bother me anymore.

I was sitting with the other seniors at the stage, and after Principal Matthews blabbering for a good 40 minutes, he finally wrapped it up and called into the mic, "And the next speech comes from voted speaker and student government president, Biana Vacker!"

I stood up to a thundering storm of clapping.

"Hi, everyone!" I shouted cheerfully, which received a butt-load of feedback. "Ugh. Oops. Anyway, hi! I'm Biana Vacker. So, this year started out really bad for me. I'm not going to point fingers, but a lot of bad stuff piled up. I thought I would never get out of it. And what I realized is that... well, someone wise once told me that rain always comes before a rainbow." I winked at Linh as I said this. "That is, to say, if only good things happened to us, then we would never appreciate them. The bad stuff makes the good stuff so much easier to love. And eventually, good stuff started happening. I met a few really good people, and found somebody who got me. Like, a lot. Not to say that this didn't happen without work. That's the truth, right? You can't just sit there and expect good stuff to happen. You have to work for it, and never give up. Because as long as you have hope, there's one good thing in your life. That's what we all forget sometimes. As sucky as the bad stuff seems, something good's going to come out of it. And even though you might find yourself on paths you never saw yourself on, those can end up making your world so much more inspiring and fun, even though those paths are hard. That's what we need to remember as we go into life, alright? Don't give up - you can always do this. No matter what. LOVE YOU GUYS!" I yelled into the mic.

A thunderous round of applause met the end of my speech. I saw a couple people wiping away tears. I smiled. "And now, to Valedictorian Sophie Foster!"

I didn't really hear Sophie's speech, but I was grinning so much. I felt happiness rush through my body. Eventually, Sophie finished up, and Principal Matthews did the conclusion. Then we all tossed our hats in the air.

I couldn't only hear the glee, I could feel it. The rushing waves of joy and excitement and terror and hope and a million emotions surging into my heart. Fireworks of happiness shot up in my body, and Tam, who had been sitting in the crowd, kissed me. Then Linh and Marella and I shared a hug and screamed.

Afterwards, we all piled into Tam's car to head to Menchi's Fro Yo as a special last day of school treat. We didn't know where we were going, as Tam's crappy car didn't have GPS, but that didn't matter. I through my head through the sunroof, and felt my body explode with happiness. We were driving off into our future, with no premonition about what would happen and how it would end, but that didn't matter. Because right now, the world felt like it was ours to take. And I would not waste that opportunity.
