Jayden POV

RichPort Institute, known for its narcissistically rich origins. The people here are no different from said origins, everyone here has the same prideful air as those in my previous school. I'm still not sure why my parents insisted on signing me up on yet another preppy school. I do want  them to be happy though, and if that makes them feel better, I guess it's not that big of a deal.

It's my second day at this school. I'm out of the house by 6:30am since it takes longer to get there by bike. I've been riding my bike ever since I moved to this city to familiarize myself with the surroundings. Ever since I was a kid, I've loved to go outside and feel the morning air.

I became to engrossed in my surroundings however, and went straight into a rocky path in which my bikes tires said "goodbye, it was good while it lasted" and decided to deflate. Fantastic. While I was dialing my fathers number to see if he'd answer, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

—"We meet again huh? Looks like you need a hand. Let me help you out, oh that's if you want to of course."—

It was at this moment that I felt my soul leave my body. My heart beat was going a thousand miles per hour yet again, so much so that I got even more nervous just thinking about him being able to hear it. It's at moments like these were I wish I could be an ostrich.

—"Y-yeah... guess so. Uhm, don't worry about me. I wouldn't want to bother you..."—

He looked at me as If he was talking to an alien who just landed on earth and spoke gibberish to him. The ostrich is definitely my favorite animal, they don't know how lucky they are. He probably thinks I'm a crazy person who just lost their mind, how am I supposed to make friends now? He's really popular so I bet he'll tell his friends that I'm a loser and then he'll-

—"What are you talking about? It's all good don't worry about it.—

Is he... perhaps... insane?

—"Hey, I know of a really good place, it's super quiet there. You could probably use some peaceful thinking time right now, so let's go. How about it?"—

Is this person... asking me to go with him? What? Weird.

—"Uhm... are you sure? I-I mean I wouldn't want you to waste your time..."—

—"Nah, no worries dude. Oh, If you're worried about missing class, on tuesdays the teachers have a morning assembly, so technically school starts at 8am instead of 7am. Nothing to lose right? Let's go."—

I've never been more confused before. I was left in a state of even more confusion when he picked up my bike and started walking, so I quickly followed. He stopped by the school and left my bike there, then he told me to follow him.

—"I'm gonna speed up the pace a bit okay? Try to follow"—

—"...K"

Was all I could mutter, my gaze caught the sight of his fore arms, those things could crush me if they wanted to without putting in much effort. His girlfriend is lucky. After a bit of a speedy walk, we arrived at a lake that was surprisingly very close to the school. As for the scenery, nothing too special, since it was covered by a lot of weed, it needs maintenance. Big time.

—"I know the lake isn't in its best condition, but this place is my favorite quiet spot. I like to come here when I need to take a breather and just relax when I feel too stressed. Do you have a place like that?"—

Wasn't this supposed to be a quiet place? Why is he asking questions? Not like I mind it though, I'd love to be able to count my friends with three fingers instead of two. Right now that idea is way too far fetched though.

—"I'm actually new here, so I haven't found a place where I'm able to relax just yet... Do you come here often?—

—"Yeah, like all the time... Hey, I forgot to ask but, what's your name? Mine's Kevin by the way."—

Oh right, I completely forgot, I don't know anything about this guy. I'm talking to a total stranger. It feels quite refreshing. Im still a nervous wreck though, I hope I don't mess anything up while im talking.

—"My name is Jayden, I uhm- it's nice to meet you."—

—"Jayden huh? Nice name. Well then, if you need anything let me know. I'd love to help you out with anything, don't ever hesitate."—

—"Huh wha-? Oh well uhm, thank you very much."—

—"Sure, im guessing you know your way back so... see you around right?"—

—"Yeah..."—

He turned around and proceeded to leave. Seriously, what just happened?
