"Alright, Master, I'll be going!" Collei said.
"Where exactly are you going?" Tighnari asked, flipping another page of the plant book in front of him.
"I was going to scout and gather a few materials..."
He sighed and closed the book completely. "I thought I told you it's too dangerous right now. With the situation in the forest, there's no telling what you can encounter."
"About that," she pulled a chair and sat next to him. "Remember when I told you about Cyno and that he can help save the forest?"
Tighnari brushed the rusty book cover with his thumb. "The scholar from the Academia you mean? Yeah. Did he write you back?"
"Yes...he is actually on his way," she said with a hesitant voice.
"What?" He rose up. "You're telling me this now? Collei..."
"So sorry, Master. It completely slipped my mind," she said.
He let out a dreading sigh. "The place is a mess and we need to go find him. He might get lost or hurt. We need to prepare a meal too."
"I can go greet him and lead him here, leave that to me," Collei said enthusiastically.
"Okay," he said after thinking about it, "Stay out of trouble, alright?"
She nodded before sprinting off. Tighnari slipped his book between the other books on the shelf and began cleaning the space. He'd never seen Cyno but knows much about him thanks to Collei praising him nonstop. He couldn't deny that he was intrigued. After all, he is a scholar. Maybe Tighnari could learn a thing or two from him.

After an hour of anticipation, he finally heard a light knock on the door. Tighnari's hand trembled as he reached for the doorknob. He was never the type to be nervous, so the way his body was acting confused him. Collei headed in after he opened the door. Behind her was a young man with flaming red eyes that seemed ironically cold. His light grey flowed behind him as he followed Collei inside, making firm eye contact with Tighnari.
"What the fuck?" Tighnari thought to himself upon the realization of his own heart racing for no reason.
"This is Cyno," Collei said, "Meet my Master, Tighnari. He's the Forest Ranger's leader and watcher around these parts."
"Nice to meet you," Tighnari said, receiving nothing but a nod.
"All forests are eventually prone to phenomena like this, but for it to happen at such a rate..." Cyno said, resting his luggage on Tighnari's table, and his spear against it.
"Oh, yeah. On our way, we spotted a withering zone, one that was bigger than any we've seen before," Collei said.
Tighnari rubbed his forehead intensely. "Again?"
"This one seems to be spreading fast though."
"And you just arrived too," he said, turning to Cyno, "I don't neglect my guests, but I'm sure you understand how serious this is."
"I'll come," Cyno said, picking up his polearm.
"Not happening."
He asked them about the location and without another word, he disappeared off. Collei wasn't wrong. This withering zone would be one big trouble if he doesn't get rid of it now. He got to it and cleared a few roots with no issue. The final root summoned a batch of riftwolves that raged at him vigorously. He backed away, giving him distance to snipe them.
"Watch out," he heard a voice shouting.
Cyno rushed behind him, blocking an attack from a riftwolf that Tighnari had no idea was there.
