Steve walked into the cafe, the bell on the door ringing as it opened. His eyes scanned the room and swept over me before going to the next person. I almost sighed in relief when he didn't recognize me.

Steve walked to a table in the corner next to a window, the perfect place to relax with the view while also keeping an eye on everyone in the room.

A perfect vantage point, very strategic. He sat down, keeping his cap low over his eyes and pulling on the edge of his hoodie, almost as if hoping to disappear.

A waitress walked over to him and took his order. Steve seemed to relax slightly, and as the words left his mouth I watched as he became comfortable with the woman, talking softly to her. He smiled when she walked away from his table. They seemed like friends.

I waited until the waitress was out of sight before standing up, walking at a calm pace to Steve's table. He was immersed in a paper he had found on a coffee table near him. I slid into his booth, into the seat in front of him.

"Excuse me, I-" Steve started, looking up with panic in his eyes. His indigo eyes met my own and they widened in shock. "What are you-"

My hand reached out, stopping him as he reached towards his phone. "Please," I said, looking up at him from under my eyelashes. He doubted himself for a moment. I seized the opportunity. "Just give me one minute. One minute to talk. No tricks, no deceit, just talking. Please."

Steve narrowed his eyes. "Why should I trust you?"

"You can't. But that's what trust is about, right? Trusting that you can trust me. Taking a chance to see if it'll work out."

Steve hesitated, thinking it over. "Sixty seconds."

"I know you need information on an organization," I said immediately. He was giving me a chance and I wasn't wasting it. No way in hell. Steve opened his mouth but I interrupted him before he could get the chance to speak. "Don't ask me how I know, I just know. It's called Thorne, it's extremely dangerous as you know, but what you don't know is about its bases." Steve's eyes widened in shock.

I took a deep breath, speaking as fast as I could. "I can tell you where the bases are and the basic security measures. I tell you, and you don't ask questions about how I know. I just know. You don't tell anyone about me being your informant, you keep it a secret, and I promise not to mess with you guys or steal information from you as long as we keep our deal."

Steve opened his mouth again, but I kept talking. "The first base you want to know about is located in Tennessee, it has high-grade security, but it's the least secure of them all because they only use it as storage for arms. They don't think anyone would attack it since it's not as valuable as other bases, but it is. It's their main supplier, and they need it to keep themselves from going bankrupt."
