"Kaya Bennett, come back." Ayana yelled at the small red-headed child.
Kaya pouted,"why bother? I never any good. I'm never going to able to do magic."
"You will. It is in our blood, your blood. One day you will do great things, Kaya. " Ayana said softly with a gentle smile as she held and the brush the 8 year old red hair.
The child pulled away,"Too bad that day, is not today." She said before she ran the other direction.
"Kaya! Come back here." Ayana watched as Kaya run away and sighed,"she's going to be the death of me. Kea."
Kaya giggled as she ran up the hill into the red forest. Autumn fall was upon the small village. Everything was a bright red and orange. Leaves were constantly falling off from their branches leaving the trees bare as it waits for the next spring.
Kaya jumped back as a bird drop in front of her,"ah." She frowned as she kneed down to look at it. It had a broken wing,"you look too little to eat." She said poking it.1
It kept chirping in pain.
Kaya scooped up the bird careful,"I'm going to take you to my Aunt Ayana. She will know what to do."
"Your aim has been improving." A voice from distance said.
Kaya observe from behind the trees. She sees a boy around her age smiling at his what seems like his older brother.
An older man intervened,"you're not encouraging him enough." he snatched the bow from dirty blonde boy,"you are not man enough to hold a weapon."
"Sorry, Father." The boy said disappointed as he looked down.
The older man frowns at the sight of him and started kicking him.
Boy's brother tried to stop his father,"father please. You're hurting him."
"Elijah. Stay back or you're next." The older man threatened him.
The older brother steps back in fear.
Kaya stood in front of them. Her eyes greens looked up at him.
"Who are you?" The older man stepped back.
"I'm sorry. I was in a hurry home. This birds wing is broken. See." Kaya opened her hands showing him the bird.
The older man groaned and cursed under his breath as he left.
The older brother knees next to his little brother,"Niklaus are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
Kaya cooed the bird before she started running.
"Hey." Niklaus looked at the girl but covered his eyes as the light from autumn sun blinded him. Her hair seemed more red as the sun shined through it,"thank you."
She didn't say anything before she ran back to her home.
"Back so soon." Ayana said as she rested her hands on her hips.
"Look." She held out her folded hands cuddling the little bird,"can you help it?"
Ayana brushed gently over the bird,"of course." She said standing straight with folded arms.
"What are you waiting. Help it."
"No." Ayana said as she turned and walked away.
"Aunt Ayana." Kaya whined.
"If you want to help it, you do it yourself."
"But..." Kaya looked down at the helpless bird.
"I can help you, help it." Ayana said.
